Hi everyone. I have an 83 bj40. I have most of the PS parts needed, but would like to find a PS column/shaft and a set of hard cooler lines too, if possible. It's fine if the cooler lines are in bad shape. ( I know, hard to find)

you can shorten your existing inner shaft versus getting a correct one
shortten the shaft and reset the "rollpin"
not sure if the 2F version of the cooler line will work for a B setup.
there was a company that made a reproduction cooler line but it was for the gas version

Thank you for that info. I was aware that it can be shortened, but I have never done it before. Thought I'd try and find an original if there was a reasonably priced one out there. If not, I will probably give it a try.
Both cooler lines look the same to me as far as gasser vs B diesel as they run along the frame to a pump on the passenger side. But I've never owned an F engine.

the US PS pump is mounted on the left side of the engine
non US is mounted on the right side of the engine similar to the B setup
there was a write up and specs on how to shorten the rod in the 40 tech section, it was many years ago tho, not sure if it is in FAQ

Ok got it. You can tell I've never owned a gasser lol. Appreciate the info
