Kevin... Did you also used to make battery trays too? I may just have to have you make me a whole replacement truck!

Kraig

I did a few but they were a bit of a pain because I didn't have any trucks around at the time to make templates from. I only ever made the stock BJ42 trays and oversized (group 34?) trays to fit the stock BJ42 towers. I was directing people to that stainless battery tray website but guys were saying they never had stock.

I would re-visit battery trays if there was a market but I couldn't give it my full attention until next summer.

more nice work. i want a set of those wheel wells for a 66.

Thanks, they are a great improvement over my first attempt a few years ago. Guess I'm learning as I age.

Would you say a 66 would be the same as a 71 as far as stock holes etc? The jump seats are different than late model units obviously. Roll bar too. I have my bro's rig here and I plan to clean it out and eyeball the sheet metal and see just how bad it is. It might need wells and at the very least I will measure it up to make drawings for 71 wells. Does "E74" apply to the wells too? I need to research the evolution of the wells. I like to make my stuff as true to original as I can including captured nuts and mounting holes for whatever.

My last post had a list of stuff I was working on. Most of it is done now. I have all model year sills in stock... they can ship within 24hrs of an order (I leave the welding until an order comes in). I am welding up a few sills (did six today) to fill existing orders. I have 3B brackets in stock. Vacuum tanks ready to ship. 45 tailgates will start sometime in January. Also working on snorkels and 8274 winch covers this week too. Here are a coupla pics of an order I made for a local guy...79-84 rear floor, rear sill, left and right wells and complete cross members for under the floor. I have two more complete sets of these ready to weld (about 10 hours per set). A lot of work in these but I think they came out nice. And my brother's blue '71 made it to my place.

Wow, I wish I knew about these back when I was buying stuff for my '78 tub!

That was back in '06 I think?

i can take photos and measurements if it helps. or maybe look into drilling out the spot welds and sending you a wheel well to work off.

i can't answer your questions other than there was no stock roll bar afaik. mine has a later added bar and aftermarket extensions on the jump seat mounts to make it fit. the install holes on the roll bar are very far from stock.

Pictures would allow me to compare to the 71 in the garage.

Great stuff, it appears you are taking some time off.?

I will be digging into my BJ42 and was hoping I could look to you for some the the items in these pictures, wheel wells for sure?

Rob:beer:

Yeah sure, that would be great. I'm busy for a few weeks with some snorkels and a few more sills plus a couple other things. But I can finish off a set of wells for you after that. LMK what your time line is.

Thanks Kevin, time line as of now...:meh: not sure, have a bathroom gutted in the house and need to finish it according to my :princess: and daughter, maybe sometime in the new year..

Whenever it is a good time for you, its now parked in the garage awaiting surgery..;) If you pump out a set anytime I will buy them..

I'm in the queue, correct? No rush, just checking.

You bet. I have about five of the middle year sills to finish off. I'm trying to do them at the same time I'm doing some snorkels so I'm jumping back and forth between the two. I have you down for an Oct75 build. Should be all done by the end of next week.

Wanted to let you know the rear sill I ordered came in today. Shipping was much quicker than I expected.
One problem however. That thing is such a fine piece of fabrication I don't want to put it on the truck. Might just hang it on the wall and go on living with a rusted out sill.
Or I could just order another. Anyhow, great workmanship, I feel like I should owe you more money. Thanks.

Kevin,

Received my sill and I must say I'm extremely disappointed: you missed Christmas by one day! There I sat with no cruiser parts under the tree.

Seriously, thank you. Can't wait to open it and see your work.

Doesn't matter what you do, you just can't please some people! ;)

In stock, can ship in 24hours. I'll send you a PM.
