83 and 85 3b have some differences, IP should be the same.
If that BJ70 is a canadian market, confident it came with an h55f, the h42f was swapped.
I think central America got more petrol 2F. 3F than diesel, Maybe places like Argentina?
Is the combo is located in Quebec, if that the case, good running engine with those number possibly worth around 500$ IMHO...

Yes it is in Québec.
I also never saw a 70 in canada with a 4 speed , maybe it is from an 81-82 bj42 and swap in the 70 , i just don't understand why

Most likely a bearing failure on the h55f then they had a lead on an h42f hanging around... I don't know
There is some clues tho, the bell housing is an aluminun one which was introduced around 85 in Canada. The h42f was installed behind a cast iron one, the 4 speed tranny was dropped around 82 (BJ60) here in Canada in flavor of the 5 speed h55f.
Bonne chance !

I know that, but not in an 85 bj70 @cruiseroutfit kurt say it is possible, i just want to know if canadian model got this combo , i never saw it before

5 speed for the Canadian market. (though if Kurt has seen a 4 speed from a Canadian market truck, I would trust that)

4 and 5 speed possibilities for all other markets.

I'm not saying it's possible. It is possible. Canada did not get that combo. You asked about Canada after I had answered.

For example, here are GEN market BJ70's with a 4spd

Hello,

I am late to the party.

The FSM does mention this transmission as an option. So yes, it is normal.

70 Series got odd options like a four-speed transmission in some Latin American countries. So did countries in the Middle East and Asia. Front drum brakes were another odd option.

It is worth making an offer.

Can you see the identity plate of the donor vehicle? That will tell all.

If not, it could be an H42 from a US model, or an H41 from anywhere else. They both look identical from the outside but the H41 has lower ratio 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears, identical to those in the H55F.

The seller find more info , the engine is an 87 3b with 250k km and transmission t-case is from a bj40 , most likely 81-82 .
New clutch, starter and alternator
He ask 3k for the combo

The engine suppose to run fine, it could be good replacement for my 84 bj42, at about 450k it feels tired and last summer i've found metal from the cam bearing in the oil pan , but keep on driving it anyway knowing i should rebuild it

Transmission and t-case could be use on my 77 chevota fj40 to replace the old tired h42 and one piece case , better shifter location and sturdier t-case .

Is 3k $ is a good deal ? 🤔
