these threads have honestly help me get my crap together as to where I'm heading for the suspension mods. I personally think it will be a jumbled mess of what is out there and some of what I make myself.

for me the 4" springs from Slee are a given.
front and rear drop brakets for the panhards from MAF most likely.
my own caster plate hopefully

everything else is off the table right now as I haven't investigated it enough to have any idea as to what I think I might do.

Just wanted to say that they have been a big help and for the most part on topic.

why your own caster plates?

I was looking  on Slee's sight just yesterday for the 4 inch springs/lift kit and did not see it, am I just blind or is no longer offered?????

You're right-I didn't see them there either. Call Ben and ask. I got my set from Slee about 2 months ago and just now installed them. I think at the time they had 10 sets and Christo said they were selling better than he thought, so who knows, they may be out.

For Landtank-the springs are much firmer than J's. I know you drive a lot-make sure the really firm ride is what you want.

Looking at the caster plates-they do look easy to fab up, but then Slee has them fairly cheap and already engineered.

Here are some quickie driveway shots of the 4 inch Slee lift and some detail shots of the wheelwells. I have an ARB bar, a winch, dual batteries and a loaded trailbox, Slee bumper and spare in the rear. Tires are 315/75/16.

reffug, they just finished remodelling and the web site hasn't been updated. When I talked to Ben they had a few sets of 4" springs left and thought it would be a 2 month wait for another orderto arrive so I pulled the trigger and got them coming in.

Semlin, that answer is a long one. I'm looking to accomplish more than what Christo has done. This by no means says that I can but I have designed some plates and cut some samples from corrigated board and will check clearances and such this weekend.

Dang Cruiserdrew...I'm really going to be the lowrider of the group now :crybaby:

:D

The rig looks great!

The springs were not listed on Christo's site when I looked yesterday. I don't think they've added them on there -- but...just so you know, there's other stuff they sell that's not listed on the site. It's probably best to call until the site's updated.

We only sell them to Norcal guys since they are the only true wheelers. East coast guys are all posers :D

Actually, once we are done with this open house deal, I am scheduled for a major website update. We still have some of the 4" springs available, and will have more pretty soon.

Just a comment on slee's castor plates; they are much, much stouter when in hand then the pics look. Just like every other product i have pruchased from slee, once in hand i am always very impressed. I'm not saying you couldn't make your own plates (as i had that thought), but the ones he has are stout as hell and are very high quality metal. Just my 2cents.

i have just learnt from a Nasa engineers called in as a consultant on the project that landtank's top secret "fastercaster" plates will have special aerodynamic qualities allowing his cruiser to achieve 17.4 mpg and also generate sufficient downforce to allow it to pull 3.5 G's on the slalom track.

:D

its not the fact of better mateials, hell its just plate steel . its the fact that they took the time and effort to design the kit and make it work!!! its the best and easiest way to go

dudes let the man fab his own plates sheesh for me i think its way cooler if some one wants to try fabbing there own stuff. If he says he wants to fab some castor plates, feels confident he can do it, and can also possibly improve on the design then full power to him. id personaly would like to see more people building there own junk.

Lord I hope this is not possible. :flipoff2:

One junk is more than enough.

I think I know what Rick has in mind. We looked at that option, but decided against it. Not as much from the making the plate standpoint, but from the fitting standpoint. Most people have a tough enough time doing the little cutting that is needed for these plates. Rick can let the cat out of the bag if he wants to.

I don't know what Rick has in mind either, but if you could move the front axle forward about 1 inch, that would be a good thing.

I LOVE the 4" springs.

If i hadn't gotten my J's for free I'd have 4" coils on my truck.

I'm a fan of adjustable panhards. My lift setup has changed 4 times in less than a year. Maybe you are certain this is the setup for you, maybe not.

I see no reason to do anything other than slee's caster plates for 4" coils. (unless you are going for adjustability).

Unless you have a LOT of weight in the rear, you are going to want 1.5-2" of spacer in the front. I built a set for my truck in about 3 hours of work with a few bucks of 1/8" and 6" pipe.
