Want to ask you guys if anyone has installed these aftermarket high angle CV axles,
TRAKMOTIVE TO8043XTT CV Axle.
01 4Runner with King coilovers up front. The shaft looks much thicker than what I took off. These pictures were taken after I removed the CV axle from the hub. TIA

How are these working out for you OP? Looks like several people are using these without issue and I am considering them too.

I'll be interested to hear how they hold up long term. I just installed them in my 97 but haven't had a chance to use them other than a couple of minutes in the snow last week.

Put a pair of these on a customer's car at their request. one side was fine and the other side got replaced under warrenty 3 times in 10k miles. then we just threw them away and went back with OEM. sounds like a good idea having the telescoping section its too bad they couldn't make a good outer CV joint.

What was the issue? I know you said the outer joint kept failing can you elaborate? Also what size tires and lift?

stock everything. outer CV completely failed, almost likely it was not heat treated at all and just made from super soft steel or something. can see that it got very hot too. I'm sure they they're arnt all bad but there must be a bad run out there somewhere. i'm a big fan of replacing old boots on the stock axles.

Thats good to know. I kept the OEM originals and plan to reboot them as they aren't in as bad of shape as I thought. I was originally planning to replace them with OEM but I went to the local dealership and they told me that the OEM CV's are discontinued.

Out of curiosity, which side was the one that's was failing?

i don't remember it was a few years ago. truck was just in for other work everything with the axles has been fine.

I figured I would give an update on the CV's. I did my first trail run over the weekend since installing them. I spent a reasonable amount of time in 4LO and had a few technical obstacles and had no issues.

As far as I know from looking in to new myself, these are the exact ones NAPA sells but NAPA puts their name on them. Something like $100. bucks less each side.

I just looked up the Napa ones and they look identical to the TRAKMOTIVE CV's. Mine are still holding strong after a few hundred miles of on and off road use. At this point I'm happy with them!
