After weighing my options I have decided to rebuild my Cruisers heart rather than go with a transplant. After searching the web I've found VERY few places that offer any kind of overhaul / rebuild kits though. I'm not against piecing parts together but I was just wondering if you all had any preferd sources. Thanks

If Im not mistaken an OEM master rebuild kit is available. Get a hold of CruiserDan at American Toyota. Look for his contact info in the Vendors section.
Good luck with the rebuild post pics of your progress .

I bought the entire gasket kit for Toyota and had the machine shop source the pistons and bearing. Heck of a lot cheaper that way.

Thanks for the advice I' check into it. I found a place called Perfect Engine.com (no affiliation) who has 3fe and 2f kits for around $460 with pistns, but I don't know of their quality. The other thing I was weighing is wether or not to de-smog in the process or not?

There's a fella on E-Bay "Roo-dogs 4x4 spares" they have master rebuild kits w/pistons. rings, andbearings any size for just under $900 coming out of australia. Search for landcruiser in parts and go to other.

I do not know if they offer the service anymore but in the past Napa had their own machining shops to do block work along with Jasper.........i had really good luck with them. But that was in 99:beer:

Ditto. One thing to note, get some cast iron rings as opposed to chromoly. They will seat quicker and will last a long time. Not as long as chromed rings, but plenty long for these lower RPM engines. That is my preference.

Found this for reading

Get the Toyota gasket set for sure. They are very high quality.

Marshall what the F are you talking about "cheaper"? You can get a donor engine or two for what the OE gaskets, pistons and rings cost plus install!
Your wallet stopped hurting, I take it? How's Big GaY?
