Adding another FJ80:
Just "completed" (are they ever?) a 1992 FJ80 for my son's 16th birthday. He and I have been working on a 1991 restoration and frankly bought this one for the new BFG tires, non-faded seats and nearly perfect bumpers/stainless. After almost a year, I started driving this one and found it to be very solid and worth keeping for a while. The plan is to let my son drive it as a first car and then move him up into a newer Gen 5 4Runner in a few months.
The big surprise is tomorrow after school. Hope he like's Dad's retro touches. He has no idea. We told him this one was a "parts car" and would soon be sold. My take on retro Toyota livery, used Yakima bits and recycled pipe, non-up vintage KC lights, a new Sony radio, OEM shocks, recycled seat cloth, and lots and lots of detailing, polishing, cleaning, touchup. Still need to solve the sunroof leaks and those two knocking axels which I will tell him are lane departure warnings
