Are any 3F engine parts compatible with the 3FE?
What about FJ62 interior stuff, like blower resistors? Does any of that work with a FJ80?

Are you comparing engines between US market FJ 62 and FJ 80? If so, they are all 3FEs. IIRC there are a few small parts that changed over those years, but not much?

Yeah, exactly. I think some FJ62s had the 3F, though. There's (what looks like) a dead FJ62 on the edge of town and I wanted to do some research before I ask the owner if I can grab some parts off it.

Fj62 has a 3FE in it. The short block I bought and put in my 80 was from a 62. There are some minor differences between the early and late blocks, but none that I remember that were really major.

Yep, I'm wrong. FJ60s- 3F engine. All FJ62s - 3FE engine.
Part compatibility is really high between the FJ62 and FJ80 3FEs, if not identical.
Still working on how much compatibility there is between the FJ60 3F and the 3FE.

Yeah, I was just reading that. It looks like the 3F engine didn't even make it into the American market until 1988- so it looks like all FJ60s have 2Fs and all FJ62s have 3FEs. I guess I should be looking into 2F/3FE compatibility.

There are a lot of similarities in the block and head. You can take a 3FE head and put it on a 2F block and have a 2FE which is a longer stroke version of the 3FE. There are others but that gives you something to look at. Is there something specific you are looking for?

I noticed a derelict 1980s cruiser not too far from town. I wanted to do some research before I asked the owner if I could look in it for parts.

The town I live in is four hours drive from the nearest town, so I thought it would be neat to take parts from that cruiser and add them to my own for backups and modifications.

Not a lot of things other than a few parts of the drive train will interchange. I would look at picking up the whole truck if you can, or maybe that's just the Cruiser parts hoarder in me.

Do you think I could salvage the door panels and put them in a 91 FJ80 to get some manual windows?

No, body's are totally different. I have windshield wiper arms off a 94 FZJ80 on my 84 FJ60. There may be a few other odds and ends that may work but any of the big stuff is totally different.
