I have a 1985 bj60 wit 3b that will not start. I at first poured diesel in the tank and noticed it came right out on the ground. I then ran a hose from the injector pump to a jerry can bled the fuel and proceeded to turn it over hoping it would start.
It only turned over though I tried many times no combustion.
I'm now thinking of checking all the airways so I know it is getting air.
The vehicle was sitting and I bought it as is, not running.
My plan is to get it going and repair as I go.

Is the glow system working? Are you getting puffs of unburnt diesel out the exhaust when cranking?

How fast is it cranking?

I have started many many 3Bs in all different conditions. They always run.

I would manually override the glows.

cranking, I had a quick start charger on the batteries, i had also pre-warmed the glow pugs about three times before starting. I'm not sure how fast it turned over but it was not slow. It has got me scratching my head because I've been driving landcruiser diesels for almost 20 years and never not got one going.

Do you know the glows are actually glowing? If not, use a jumper lead to put Batt+ direct to the glow rail for 5secs..

Like I said, manually override the glow plugs. It’s possible the timer is fried or something like that.

Crack the injector nuts while cranking to confirm fuel is making it to them?
