So usually when I turn the key I hear the fuel pump then glow plug timer goes etc etc.

About a week ago I cracked open a banjo bolt on the injector hub thing to unlink a hose and forgot to bleed the fuel lines afterwards.

It started choaking and struggled to start/stay running without throttle. I then bleed the fuel lines but I still can't hear the fuel pump and it struggles to start.

Would that mean the blockage is between the engine and fuel pump or between the fuel pump and the fuel tank.

Cheers
(Yes I'm aware I need to replace the filters XD)

if you have an electric lift pump that you no longer hear check wiring or pump function until your happy with that. what vehicle is this in? a 40 series or was it swapped i to something else. as far as i’m aware these engines didn’t have a lift pump but i could be schooled on that. normally the injection pump draws fuel via vacuum. they are mechanical pumps not electric. if you’ve cracked a line and are now having problems i’m betting you’re getting air into the system causing the rough idle. as mentioned in your fuel pump thread try the clear hose between the filter and injection pump and see if you have bubbles while it’s running. it might simply be an old hose that didn’t reseal where you cracked it free that needs to be replaced. most clear line isn’t diesel rated so don’t leave it there permanently but it’ll tell you if you got an air leak.

^^ 👍

I have struggled with similar issues. The copper washers are one time components. If you have released a banjo bolt the crush washer must be replaced. There is a screw bleeder to release bubbles. Like the others said above...unless there are mods the fuel pump is mechanical.
