I have been running 37"s long term. Have Cooper STT in 37-12.5R17, on Tundra 17x7.5" with 1.25" wheel spacers, if I were to do it again would go with 1". They are the narrowest 37" tire setup that I have seen, so easier to fit, keep as much flex/stuff as possible.
Mine has stock diff gears, like the rubber overdrive on the highway, 2nd gear gets it up the hills just fine. On the trail, not so much, Marlin transfer gears solved that.
It's a "J" lift with 1.5" front spring spacers. The panhards along with most parts are stock. On others that we have upgraded to 37"s with adjustable panhards, once adjusted so the tires stuff evenly, they are stock length, so don't see the point. Trimming is just a slight nip to the rear of the rear flares.
Wheel/travel in the thing as much as possible, (13 trail days since Xmas
) and love this setup, works well and takes a beating.
