Have you yourself compared the radiator part number flat against the updated radiator style yourself to confirm that's its original? Unless the shop knows how to identify the upgraded parts they may not have caught that it was replaced.
Definitely plausible. Though at 240k it too would likely be at the cusp of failure, assuming replaced at mid-life.Entirely possible it was replaced with a Genuine Toyota radiator before the redesign hit the shelves in late 2018/early 19.
Agreed that at face value it sounds backwards. In reality, those not attentive to details might not catch the pink crusties or coolant smell until an overheat event occurs. And starter failures can be intermittent, clicking in some conditions and starting as normal in others until they have their final hard failure. This has me curious what shop was saying the radiator goes suddenly and the starter is progressive..
They definitely can be, but most of the reported failures on here are pretty abrupt. Maybe one or two instances of click no start, then typically nothing after that. And starter failures can be intermittent, clicking in some conditions and starting as normal in others until they have their final hard failure.
hallelujahA high mileage 200 with great history is the best bargain in Land Cruisers today.
I don't see why not. Hell, it's only 9 years old. My '90 4Runner had the original radiator still functioning OK when I replaced it 3 years ago. The OEM alternator finally died last year. Are there known examples of 200s that get to 300k+ miles on the original radiator, starter, water pump, and alternator?
I've got a new-to-me 2015 with 240k miles. I took it to a Cruiser shop in Austin for a post purchase check over, and they said it was "in phenomenal condition." That said, it has not had any of those four things done...
