It seems as the front panel is prone to bending, any thoughts on keep it from happening again?
Also, the headache rack kind of protects the window, what about the big gap underneeath where the cab is exposed? I saw an old timer that put expanded metal in his headache rack... not that I recommend ruining a stock 'rack. What do you think? Just baby it?

About 4 hours on the lpb today and a couple misc. screw around hours on the bike.

Continued to work on the box. I gas axed the bolts that were around the rear and wheel wells, I think 18 total. Not all of them had cracks around them, but figured I would just replace them all anyway. Also blasted the area where the front panel was, clean the rust off. Welded up the cracks and ground down. I had also planned on getting the front panel welded in, but didn't find the ambition.

Get a couple opinions on this, thining of SEM saucing the front side of the front panel. I am going to be bedlining the inside of the bed, and the bottom...just kinda thinking of a going up and all the way around the front. You don't see it anyway since it's up against the bed? Just an idea, got it straight, but there a going to be a lot of little things....might be an easy way to make it look nice vs priming and sanding for something you never see?

Wife also picked up some foam and black leather, brought it home tonight. Drilled holes about evey 1/2" or so. Glued some foam to it tonight, hoping to get the leather wrapped on it tomorrow...plus work on the lpb some more.

I think as any pick up ages, it gets used for crappier jobs. I still plan on using the truck, but probalby not as hard as an old p.o.s. truck.

Personally I don't ever think I will be hammering it that hard again to bend it up that bad. So, as for me I think I will be just leaving it stock.

Matt, where did you get your anti-inversion shackles for the 45? Are the rear bolt diameters larger than the fronts? Fronts should be the same as the 40's rear similar to that of a 55 according to MAF and SOR. I can not find the anit-inversion ones like you have? Everyone says they are out of stock? Do you remember if the 45 lpb were the same size as the ones from the LV?

I think I got them from JT outfitters?? Not 100% sure, but about 98% sure...if I think about it some more I might get to 100% ;p

I'm pretty sure all the bolt dia. were the same, 5/8". I think the ones on my lv are 5/8" also, but they could be 9/16". It really didn't matter because I ended up custom ordering all my poly bushings through SOR to fit each individual spring and hangar bracket.

The back/bottom of the cab will get "graveled" by dirt/rocks thrown by the tires where the bed doesn't cover. Does that seem to be a problem to you or have you already addressed that?

Never had an lpb until now, so I have never had any problems to deal with. If that is the case, maybe it would make sense to SEM sauce the front of the front box panel as I mentioned in my prevous post? What do you think about that?

Bedline the inside, underneath and carry the stuff all the way from the inside of the bed to the bottom over the front panel? Most of it is up against the cab so you don't see it anyway, and it would be protected from any gravel? It would still match the paint and look nice?

I assume the SEM sauce is a undercoating-like spray. I think you did something else with that stuff in a previous portion of this thread, right? Sounds like the right approach: barely noticeable but prevents chips and dings which eventually lead to more rust.

About 2 hours on the bike tonight.

I know, you want lpb....but, the wife picked up that 1/2" foam and leather yesterday so that was tonights project. Wife gave me a hand on this one. I glued the 1/2" foam to the seat with weldwood contact cement. Then for pretty much the next 2 hours the wife and I hand laced the seat with steel wire. Turned out pretty good, but what a pain in the ass to do that.

Anyway, pics of the seat done and on the bike. Should be back after the lpb tomorrow.

The SEM sauce is tintable bedliner, really good stuff. Yes, I sprayed it on the bottom of the cab and fenders of the lpb. Also the bottom of the body and fenders on the lv, and on the bottom of the tub and fenders of my 40....crap doesn't come off.

I agree with the Yamaha thing.....I have nothing against them either, but if I show up to some biker event with Yamaha still embossed on the side....the thing is probably going to end up in the campfire

I do have plans to get rid of that, probably going to pull both side covers and mill the yamaha out. Either nothing on the side or might mill up another aluminum plate and press it in.

Thanks, Matt

Should not be that big of a deal considering how nice the rear emblem on the LV turned out. ;)

Looking great Matt man!

Oh....now I'm getting nervous like I'm going to have to step up to the plate or something here

;) We all know if you stepped up to the plate, you'd knock it outta the freakin' park. Keep up all the good work, I learn more from your posts than a stack of books. Still, I think everyone here would get a kick outta seeing a cruiserhead that we've been watching, stick it to 'em.

About 1.5 on the lpb tonight, nothing special.

Got the front panel welded back on, fairly straight forward. Just clamped by each hole and welded, then re-clamped and moved onto the next one. Ground most of them down, even though they will all be covered up by the SEM sauce.

Got some buddies coming over tomorrow night and are going to give me a hand flipping it over. I have a couple small rust spots I have to fix, fill some holes, pound some dents on the wheel wells while it's upside down and replace that left rear quarter.
