Got about 1 hour on Friday night and about 8 hours today on the bike.

Spent the time Friday night stripping the bike down to the frame. Spent pretty much the entire day today finishing welding, drilling some holes and grinding lots and lots of welds down. I had a buddy of mine over who was using my blaster to blast a big belt sander he made. He also blasted all my parts and frame....while he was finishing that I was hanging what I could fit in the booth. Got epoxy primer on a good portion of my parts while I primed and painted his stuff with some single stage ureathane.

Probably smooth out more welds tomorrow and start spreading a little filler here and there and sanding that out. Might be spraying some base clear by middle of the week......maybe...

About 6.5 hours on the bike today.

Nothing special, but time consuming. Spent several hours die grinding corner welds basiclly smoothing everything out....again. Then I mixed up some filler and smoothed it into all the corners with my finger. Then I spent the next several hours sanding it all off..... After that was all done I shot a coat of epoxy primer over the top of everything on the frame again, along with the parts that I couldn't fit in the booth yesterday. Then I shot a couple coats of ureathane primer on the frame.

Hopefully hand sand that out to 80 grit in a couple days. Then ureathane prime again and try to sand out to 220. Still hoping to spray some base/clear yet this week.

Got about 1.5 last night and about 2.5 this evening on the bike.

All of that time was spent sanding. Got the frame sanded down to 80 grit and a couple other parts that I sprayed with ureathane primer. Sanded down my fork tubes to 220 and the battery box. I had to cut a bunch of tabs off the forks with the band saw, stuff that held fenders on. Filed them down afterwards and blasted. They actually look pretty good after 1 coat of primer sanded down to 220.

Hoping to get the frame sanded down to 220 tomorrow night and primed again. Still hoping to get paint on it before the weekend, well see. I think the plan is to paint everything pearl white, including the frame. I'm going to try to get away without painting the tank, but might have to repaint after I get the emblems off the side...might fawk up the paint.

I would like to wrap the bike up in the next week or 2.....I'm getting lpb withdrawls the last week. I think this was a nice little diversion, but I would like to get back to the truck.....soon.

I know this has nothing to do with nothing, but I thought I would post it anyway.

My buddy who started his XS650 bike a couple weeks ahead of me, finished his a week or 2 ago. He had emailed me a few photos and here are a couple.

Funny to think that we started with the same looking bike and yet they are both so different...

Go hijack your own thread? Oh this is your own thread.

Great work as usual.

funny...I was hoping to see more Land cruisers pics too.....anyhow, nice work on that crotch rocket you are moding.

Got about 2 hours last night and 2.5 tonight.

Little more sanding and epoxy priming the night before. This evening has been all painting. Shot a couple coats of the pearl white I got, tried to match the tank....not exact, but really close. Waited for the white to dry and then fine line taped a flame on the rear, tried to copy the tank flames. Shot a coat of silver.

Shot a couple coats of clear, everything looks pretty nice. Using a new clear on the bike. Auto parts store guy told me most of the local autobody shops were using it, cheaper. The DCU2021 I normally use is about $190 a gallon, this stuff was $71. Sprays really nice and looks good....I guess if it's good enough for the local autobody shops, should be good enough for my bike.

Hoping to start assembling Sunday night.

I checked out that site, very neat! Diesel / Hydrostatic powered motorcycle....very cool!!

You know, if I applied myself on the 45 as much time as I have spent on the bike in the last few weeks...I'd be done by now. But, I was in a little rut on the 45, the bike has provided I believe just the right amount of away time. I am really looking forward to getting back after the 45 in the next week or so after I wrap up the bike. Might be able to be driving the 45 by the end of March or April sometime......maybe..;)

About 1.5 last night and about 3 hours tonight. Pics aren't really specific, but trying not to take a ton of stuff.....since this is actually a Landcruiser website. But, I imagine some of the ideas and process's apply to cruisers as well.

Pretty much assembly and re-working a few parts before they go on. Pics pretty much say it all, just bolting painted parts back on. Got the pipes wrapped in header wrap....and I guess all those little things I'm forgeting but the pics might say it all.

Keep going tomorrow, hoping to start stringing some wire and get this rig fired up by the weekend.

Nothing against Yamaha but if you tricked out the motor sidecover/logo and covered up the logo, you would really throw off any gawkers and leave them guessing. Nice work, you definite make productive use of your time.
