I wonder how hard that would be...

Idk how it would like up or even if it would fit...any idea? I'll have to search on Toyotadiesel.com and see how many people have done it. I would prefer a diesel actually. I just think that it would cost a lot more money and be quite a bit harder.

you can rebuild the 22r with all the nessasary machining for about 650 bucks that all parts and machine work. i would go that route. you must not know what all a 350 is gonna tear up on a mini truck.

I thought it was a lot more expensive than 650 to do a rebuild..hmn. I thought that the 350 was fine in there. Are you referring to it breaking axle shafts and stuff?

i found a 22r with 85k miles on it, it comes with the 5 speed tranny and the transfer case. How much do you think its worth...he is looking for 1200 but he said its negotiable. Especially if i buy some other parts...additionally im looking for an ifs steering box, wider rear axle, another stock fuel tank, and a few other parts. He said we could do a package deal. I'm just not sure how much its all worth...

Thanks

I bought a whole running but rusted 87 4x4 p'up for $150 a few years ago. Was my 1st Toy now I have parts from that truck on my other 3 Toyotas and still have a complete spare drivetrain and many other parts. Price sounds high. My winter diver is an 89 4x4 p'up that I drive 500 miles a week. Paid $600 for complete running truck to same guy I had bought the 87 from. I am waiting for him to sell me his Ext cab cheap. Those reg cab models are just way too small.

1200 def. sounds high. I only paid 1500 for my 4runner with a new engine (all paperwork to make sure) and it is awesome. I would look around on craigslist and local ads. I still haven't heard where my brother's brother in law bought his new engine for $800 with a 50,000 mile warranty.

Yea, I didn't get that one lol. After looking around I figured out it was quite high. The truck is just sitting in my garage. I put out some wtbs but haven't found much yet. So I've just been modding my evo some more in the mean time lol.

You have the best combo for power, 22R block and 20R head, why not just do a good rebuild? www.engnbldr.com has the master engine kit for $219. Take the crank and block to the machine shop, have them measure how much it will need to be machined. Order the kit, have the machine shop bore the block to fit the pistons and turn the crank (if needed) to fit the bearings. Take the head and have them check it also, if you need a cam it's only $88. if bought with the kit.

Probably your least expensive and most reliable option. You will need to tell them the block and head type when ordering the kit to get the correct parts, it can get tricky with the mix and match motors.

Or have you called BAP Imports for a price on a short block? I have an account with them and maybe able to get a few bucks off?

I'll check monday but I'm sure I can get you another complete 22r for around $400 if you want it. Otherwise I say rebuild it for a few bucks more. BTW, I'm in east mesa if you ever need a hand, I'm on vacation and have some free time. AND if you do go with the swap, I want that exhaust if it's in good shape.

there are 2 22r being sold right now in the 4sale section cheap

I am glad to find this question on this forum. I actually have a 22re that has to be rebuilt and my brother is doing the same with his 22r. I think both of them are going to need a rebuild kit. I'm trying to do both of these as cheap as possible. I have researched a v8 swap but that is going to be expensive with all of the necessary upgrades. so I think rebuilding these engines and mild performance parts would be the best option. I'm looking for opinions on whether to do remanufactured swaps or rebuild kits?? And or any good sites to find these parts. thanks for the help!

engnbldr, lce performance, toyota it's self. Rebuild your motor. Most after markets are just bored over to the max and not worth the actual money.
