From my reading it also came behind the 95-newer 80 series which will be much easier to find. I know the bellhousing will swap over, but what about the TQ?

BTW, the cruiser is now getting a nice 5 speed auto transmission. This will be a SUPER NICE addition. The A750F or whatever it is.
That also means that my adapter is up for sale. So if anyone wants to bolt up a 1UZ or 2UZ to your stock A440 or A442, have I got something for you

The A750F has a sweet 1st gear 3.50 and both 4 and 5 are overdrive. Let me know if you need some measurements?
Just FYI, the A750F doesn't have a conventional dipstick...
There's a check plug on the bottom of the pan. A 5mm allen head does the trick.

Got the cruiser up and running again, but this time with a nice 5 speed auto.
Was really nice how everything bolted up. Of course it bolts right up to the motor with no adapter, but what amazed me is that my custom crossmember worked on this transmission as well. The tailhousing on the transmission is in the same spot on the old trans, and the rubber mount even bolted up. With the old transmission With the old A440F, I had to move the transfer shifter forward 4 inches so I had to cut a hole in the tunnel. With the A750, the transfer shifter sits back further and is now in STOCK position even though everthing is still moved forward 4 inches. I did have to modify the shifter lenths, and move the trans shifter to the drivers side of the tunnel though.
the stock A440F transfer case bolted right up to the A750 transmission and since the crossmeber was in the same spot I didn't even have to modify my drivelines again.
Driving exerience:
I don't think the ECU liked the fact that it wasn't getting signals from the solenoids because now it is happy as a clam. The most throttle I got previously was 85%, and now I get 99%. Combine that with the lower 1st gear of the A750 and the 5 forward gears this thing HAULS BUT!!! Getting on the highway going uphill I was doing 80mph by the time I needed to merge.
It did cost me a bit more to go with this, but it is much better this way and much more enjoyable to drive.
0-60 is around 8.5 seconds, although it might be quicker because I am noticing the ECU is holding back the throttle just a little bit on launch making the 0-20 rather slow, and this is at 4500ft elevation. I am sure at sea level this would drop down into the 7's.

This ECU cam factory with the 5speed auto, so it gets all the info it needs.
The ECU also receives a separate input for speed from the instrument cluster so it knows how fast the vehicle is going(which happens to be the correct and accurate signal).
The t-case is controlled by a separate ecu in the 2005 vehicle and other than maybe the diff-lock and low range signals to the engine ECU, they share nothing.
I will take pics tomorrow and even better, some VIDEO!!!

I have not added up the costs yet, but I am into it a little more than originally planned due to the trans going out on me.
I will sell the adapter(all 3 pieces and hardware for $400. I paid $750 for it.
Still waiting on getting video, I ran out of time last weekend working on someone elses vehicle.

I am astonished that somebody managed to pull this off in what seems outwardly a fairly smooth process. Seems like a major piece of work to me, especially with the ECU shenanigans and all.... You are a whiz!

I will have to say this was the most difficult wiring job I have taken on. The ECU is very keen on self diags and putting itself into a limp mode, which unlike manual throttle, may only effect gas mileage, on the drive-by-wire, it effects everything.
I need to work on the EVAP system tonight as I am still getting a code for that. As soon as I get this taken care of it will pass emissions and the rig goes up for sale.

Also it just passed safety and emissions. Emissions were done at the Bureau of Air Quality(due to the fact there is now EGR valve on this motor). They passed it and said everything about the conversion was tip top, so this would more than likely pass in California as well since California does in fact allow for engine conversions.

Wow...I'm speechless. Very nice conversion. Makes me which I still had my 3FE powered 80 to do the swap.
