Appreciate the kind words tmarx!

Here are a couple pics of the xfer support installed. Turned out good I think and should provide the support, both vertical/horizontal, that is required. But...only time will tell.

Got my hybrid axle mocked up....will have to tweak the pinion angle a bit to get things lined up. I used some Ruff Stuff perches to move the axle back a tad. Once finalized, will tack weld them in and remove to final weld. It is definitely odd seeing a centered diff under my 40....let's hope those mini axles can handle what the 4.7L is going to throw at them...that is if I can stay off the skinny pedal on the right. Will keep this updated as things progress. It is slowly coming together....oneday I might get to drive this thing!!

Given that it has been forever since I have posted, thought I would throw up my latest creation. Due to sequestration, I have lost all 'Project 2uz' fundage (I lost over $400 dollars a month because I am a federal employee and have to take time off...unpaid)! So, I gathered all my scraps in the gargae and decided to build a twinstick....I need 2 anyways, one on the xfer and one on my trans tunnel...due to my drivetrain being so long...sort of a 'remote' twinstick.
The levers are made out of 1/8" titanium and I scavanged the knobs off the Trail Junk twinstick...it was getting cutdown anyways. Throw in some aluminum rectangle box...and you have a garage fresh twinstick. Sometimes ya gotta make do with what you have....hopefully it works without any problems.
I will use a linkage between the two....final install and placements pics to follow.

Got my remote twin stick linkage put together. It consist of mini rod ends, jam nuts, and some all-thread...think I have about roughly $20 in it all together. The following couple of pics show the whole setup and the distance between the two shifters. Seems to shift easy and smooth.

Distance between the two shifters......trans shifter in low and the xfer shifter in the most forward position.

Cut down my OEM shifter cover to fit....thinking that if I do something daily...or when I can...this thing will get done!

Finished my trans cover...ended up covering it with some duplicolor Bedliner after sanding it down. Think it might be in for the final time!

Also covered my seats with some new OEM 4Runner take offs! My brother-in-law works in a trim shop where they do installs for dealers. Seeming that my cat sharpened her claws on the old ones while I was overseas, had to do something...at least they match now...and look good to boot!

At a snails pace...but forward none the less! Thx Bret...will need your welding skills here soon tho.

Gas pedal bracket

Bent up some 1/8'' aluminum to fabricate my pedal bracket...sanded, primed, and coated with some hammerite.

Ok, reviving an old thread! I do apologize for not updating...got kinda side-tracked on another project...'81 Mini 4x4.

Anyhoo, just the pertinent updates....

I am about 95% finished with 'Project 2UZ'

I have driven the truck...altho at only about 30mph...given that I have yet to finish the exhaust. So far the truck shifts, down shifts, stops, and starts. More importantly, it does not look like the motor is in limp-mode!!! It took a bit to adapt to only having 2 pedals on the driver side. So far...so good. Once finished with the exhaust, I have to balance the front tires and just start driving it to see if any little gremlins pop-up! I have yet to finish tying up the wiring, just in case I need to get back into the harness and adjust accordingly.

I will start with short trips...down to the corner store and such...then progressively lengthen my trips until I feel confident that everything works as it should.

Once I get a few trips in...or atleast one with a few miles, I will throw the OBDII reader on it to see what codes the computer is throwing. I know it will throw codes...I have deleted anything and everything I will not need..not to mention, I am running an external fuel pump. So I know the computer will throw codes...hopefully nothing that will effect the overall operation of the motor or trans.

So, thus far....knock on wood...looks like an overall success. Time will tell but am pretty optimistic that everything will work out the way I have planned.

Should anyone considering this swap need anything, feel free to PM me...I will provide info. All in all, looks like I will enjoy driving this thing! Altho not my DD, it should be a kicka$$ time when I do!!
