2H swap into bj40 questions (1 Viewer)

Hello, I’ve got a 3b 1978 bj40 4spd and the current 3b hasn’t run in 20+ years. I’m wondering if the 2H could be an easy swap? Or if anyone has done one in the past. Thanks

Try search but the 2H being a 6, is a lot longer.

It'd be a lot cheaper and easier to stick another B series engine in it, there are also B engines that make more power than the 2H if that's your goal.

is it a 3B, it would have been a B engine originally

No still trying to gather some parts, it spins over by hand, changed the oil and it looksd good

Worth having a crack at getting that 3B running.. such a great little engine!

There's a good chance the fuel rack is gummed up after that long.. I would definitely pull off the side inspection plate of the injection pump and manually move the fuel control lever back and forth (remove EDIC rod first).. should look like this (from a 2H)..
