2nd long rear broken

the J20 is 8 lug, but you could easily cut the ends off and weld on some 9" big bearing ends to the housing and run SF 35 spline alloy shafts that are six lug..

not overly expensive at all.

i doubt that you would ever break 35 spline axle shafts with 37's ....

and there's no way that chains are better than boggers in the mud, we specialize in freaking mud here and i've yet to see any rednecks with chains on their tires lol

You need to come to Panamá and go wheeling with us ..

there is no bogger that can handle that ..

Just a Note .. Tencha was no turbo at this video .. :D

i can see that and i guess chains are a pretty good solution if it's a non-trailered rig, there's nothing worse than listening to boggers on the road....

I have really no problem with the sound ar the HW .. just the rip my money on the HW .. tha't my problem ! :)

Mad4x4
Poly performance..
There are tons of options out there for a D60.. Shop around.

Pirate is a great source for vendors of 60 parts...

Thanks Mace .. I have a pics of the D60 pass side .. need to upload and past here ..

Guessing it's less of an issue for Tapage as he's already got the wider 60 axles and can run spacers up front to get closer.

The J20 D60 is 68" right?

I already run 2" wheel spacers front and rear .. maybe to much ..?

i'd love too, that actually looks like a LOT of fun! i think i see your problem here, you need more horsepower to clean the lugs out....a big block V8, rockwells and some cut boggers and you'd be unstoppable lol

I'm not a V8 guy .. and actually thought have plenty of powa with my turbo intercooled engine .. but it's only my impresion and let me be happy with this ( maybe aren't true .. but I'm positive :D )

If you see the second video that I posted above .. it's a 40 with a 350 Chevy with plenty of powa and rpm .. both axles locked, boggers 37" and can't do the little hill that I do mins after he tried ..

Need to add anithing else about the chains .. ?

And yes .. are a complete mess poting and removing .. time, etc .. but they worth .. and yes too .. they are not the best for all king of trails .. only when you have deep mud sticky or slippery hills ..

you dug it out and made it deeper for him :-)

maybe your longer wheelbase helped some or he has a weak 350? it didn't really seem to be spinning them too fast....i've been to a few mud races and have yet to see any diesels or chains on any of those rigs

your diesel sounds awesome does it have a straight 4" exhaust or something?

Thanks .. not .. only was 2.3" straight ( pretty straight :D ) pipe .. I have a 3" in my TDI 80 series that sound better ( IMOP ) ..

I'm not a chevy expert .. just know he add some " features " on that engine .. but who cares .. and yes, I'm pretty sure there are few circunstances when the LWB help ..

What's up with the sleeved tube?

What's up with the sleeved tube?

Ditto. Both ends. Maybe to allow use of a different outer flange?

Mace - are the 9" ends you refer to inserts - meaning that you grind out old welds, pull old ends, and then press in and weld new ends in. If so - are the 9" ones you refer to the same OD to ID?

This is what I assume. Just trying to learn some basics :D.

What's up with the sleeved tube?

I have no idea .. actually first time that I take a pic to one of those D60 ..

But have a friend that run one of then under he's 60 series .. I search for the pics ..

Let's see if I can break it ..

Nice. Hope we never see a continuation of this thread and the Poly's work for you!

Nice break - I seem to recollect that most break closer to the splines. The Poly's are far stronger at the spline end - and on the ones I've broken you can see some twist and it still held. Good stuff.

Knock wood .. !

actually the PP axles looks a little skiny side by side with the factory ones .. I hope they hold. I the most important I hope I learn the lesson ..

Looks good. I'm sure you will give them a good test.

Time to chain up and head to the mud hole!

Thanks Jim .. Mike bring a great customer service ( thought they are all very busy ) now I need to do some " improvements " as re route my e brake cables and little thinks ..

Hope on Feb .. I will be ready to take some trail and see how they perform ..

Now we are in summer down here so no much mud at all .. anycase I don't think I will push 'em to the limits .. or at least I will try don't.

So what made your mind up to go with the poly performance axles?

cam

First and most important money factory ..

1. New Axle ( Corporate 14B ) means here around 400 bucks ( with 4.56 and detroit )

2. New Axle ( 14B ) needs rebuild that are about 250 - 300 bucks in seals bearings etc ..

3. 14B FF are 8 lugs means new wheels .. or spacers to 6 lugs .. means more money on it.

4. 14B loose clearance so to compensate .. new tires .. ? I think in bigger .. so 42" TSL :D

5. 42" TSL rears .. and what to run in front to handle 42" .. ?

At the end it looks like I would need much more money to swap the rear and keep the actual performance ..

I found that with 12" of clearance I can go most of the places here and still drive my Cruiser long distance to reach the fun .. and no need to towing it.

I thought at the end it's a matter of kind of off road that we do down here ..
