Northshore7,
At this point all you need to do is contact Nick at Doug Thorley Headers and give him your deposit. Once he has 10 deposits they will start production. This also goes for anyone one else who would like to get in on this buy. Below is his info again for anyone interested.

Deposit is in! Cant wait...

4-6 weeks, sounds good, as this header group buy just jumped ahead on my list before the front bumper...time to start saving $$$ again...

Just emailed Nick, so I'm in for a set.

Put me on the list.

Spoke with Nick this AM. my deposit is in.

:) I just paid for an 06.

So did Nick confirm that they will fit an 06 or are you just taking a chance? I would assume that it will fit since it is still the 4.7 engine.

Two different posts above confirmed they will fit. I did not ask Nick directly though.

I went back an re-read the thread. It was confirmed that they would fit an 06. I just missed it last time.

I have a set on my 00 and have been very pleased with them. You will be happy to get a set on your truck. I am buying an extra set for down the road when i "hopefully" upgrade to an 06 or 07.

Nick told me in an email they would fit on an 06 but if you want extra insurance call the local dealer and ask for the exhaust manifold part# for the 2000 and the 2006. See if they are the same. I guess there is no 100% for sure way of knowing untill someone puts them on but I am sure Nick knows what he's talking about. He described to me in detail the differences in these headers and the Tundra headers and why they are different. Also I read a post about waiting for him to call you back. If you don't hear from him in a day or 2 I would call him again. In all my emails and calls to him I don't think he ever returned a call to me before my patience wore and I called him 1st. Then again, I really wanted to get some headers!

I called and spoke with my Toyota dealer. The exhaust manifolds are the same up until from the 98 model year to April of the 05 model year. From May of the 05 model year, the part number changes. He could not tell me what the difference was because of the generic picture illustration.

So, I don't know what to say about whether the 06 and 07 model years will accept the DT headers. Its worth a shot....I guess.

So this is interesting. Look at the illustration for the headers vs the actual image. Do you suppose that the VVTi years incorporated an OEM header? Or is it just a drawing that is different than reality? Anyone with an 06 or 07 care to take a peek inside their fender well and compare shields? Bamachem?

The collector pipes look the same so I would think it would still bolt up but the improvement might not be the same? The extra 35 hp had to come from somewhere... perhaps it's not just the valve timing.

I will try and get some pics of the 06 at lunch tomorrow.... I ordered these for the power gain, and to prevent future problems.

These pictures are of the passenger side.

It is very interesting. From the 2006 illustration, it sure appears like T added headers instead of the exhaust manifolds. In the online program, they still refer to them as manifolds though.

Even if they have a different shape, I would assume the DT headers would still fit. That is assuming there are no other changes in the engine bay that would affect clearance. have to wait and see what the pics Sr. Gringo posts. I don't have access to an 06 or 07 model.

Those pictures look similar. I bet you'll be OK. Anyway you could get the shield off and look at the manifold its self? Maybe someone should check the gasket part# on the diffrent years and see if thats the same?

I don't think the issue is really whether the DT's will fit an 06, but rather if they will benefit an 06. If the 06 manifolds are truly headers as shown then there might be minimal gain. If it's to solve a crack/leak then that would be a harder decision: spend $550 parts on DT's and labor to R&R both sides or $290 on a replacement OEM and just redo the one side.

Based upon the dyno charts we've seen for the DT's on the 4.7 and the 275 HP on the 06, I'm inclined to believe it's more than just the VVTi. Really curious to see what an 06 heat shield looks like.

+1 What he said....

What are the expected HP increases of the DT's on '98-05? Based on a tacoma dyno I saw on the original group buy thread it looks like 40-50 HP increase which is completely unbelievable.

I never noticed this before, but if you look at Shaggy's post #4, he's putting up lower numbers (both torque and hp) with the headers than Tramacbalck is in post #6 without headers. Both were 2WD dynos. Although Shaggy's shows it was done at an elevation of 7852 with a correction factor of 1.272.
