That's funny, when I first joined Mud the whole consensus was anything you did to a 2F was nothing but turd polishing, get rid of it and go V8.

Now it seems everyone wants to put a mighty 2F back in their rigs.

And we tossed the hubcaps and steelies for butt ugly white spokes and black modulars.

The worm....she is a turnin.

2F is an inline six, I like them better on the low end, I like the weight of the F over the front axle compared to a small block chevy. I think the F is more reliable (thats my opinion, never had good luck with 350s). I think a 350 probably has more torque then the 2F but there is something about the way it comes in with the 2F, steady and smooth way way down there.

Just my .02

This is exactly why I love the 2F. No beating the really low end grunt!!! Plus it is a Toyota which means it probably wont leave me stranded like so much domestic junk🙄

My first truck was a Datsun 1600 with a 1600 cc engine and would go places that the Bronco with a 302 V8 needed low range because it did not have any low end in 2 or 4 hi then in 4 low would not stay on the ground. The 2F and later 155F in my 78 FJ0 was much better than the 302 off road and never saw how fast the Bronco would run on the highway. I have had diesels in V8 and I6 I like Inline diesels better then V8 diesels.
I was going to stroke a 350 but decided against it once I had trucks with diesels and I am not looking for high horsepower and excessive torque just a good flat torque curve that won't break the drivetrain.
