~~SOLD~~~

Hi,

I bought this setup from a guy with an FJ60 that was upgrading to a V8. It was pulled when I got it, he said it was rebuilt 20,000 miles ago and was running good and strong. By the looks of it, I think he is not lying. Has a newer alternator on it also.

I purchased it to put in my 1970 FJ40, but am thinking to possibly going with the F route to avoid all the necessary modifications, as I will have a shop do the work for me and I am trying to have it done right and save on mods that I can avoid.

Will consider trading it for a F motor and 3 Speed in very good condition.

Motor and tranni located in Banning, CA

Not sure how to edit the thread. Asking for $850 or trade for a good F & 3Speed that will bolt in.

You can read about my FJ in my other post, can't wait to get this thing going already!

You can take it to the 'tech' section for more comments, but I think the general consensus would be to tell you to stick with this set up. Especially if it's recently rebuilt and in good shape. You will find that a lot of guys with early trucks looking to make an engine swap to another Toyota motor are going with a 2f. I'm in the middle of it myself with my '67 40. So far, the list of mods has been minimal. Sure your 2f needs to be desmogged and is attached to the favorable 4spd/split case combo, but if you want to avoid the modifications needed to install the split case, you could easily sell it and seek out a 40 4spd with a 4spd case that would bolt right in and maybe come out with money in your pocket. I would do some searching on 2f swaps before you finalize this decision.

Thank you, that's definitely an option, I want to keep it as close to original as I can afford, and in my case, seems like finding a good running F with tranni, would be an even cheaper option than putting the better 2f. But I do like the 4 speed idea. The 40 is going to eventually be a weekend cruiser, so I'm not concerned about it being fast or what not.

I have both in Burbank and would consider a trade.

I also have a 1970 with the F motor and 3 spd....Runs strong......I may be interested in a trade as well if none of the above pan out for you.

Good luck man

You should probably take one of these other guys up on their offers. Now I have a clearer picture of what you need, I don't think trading you a longblock assembly willbe anywhere near as useful.

Sounds good Mark. Left you a message today. Either option I end up with, more than likely it will end up with you, hopefully soon...finally ;-) @65swb45

Ps - sale pending, will respond to next in line if it doesn't go through.

I have an f1.5 with the better oiling of the 2f....but rugged good looks and fit of an f. best of both worlds - higher compression head and better mpg. than 2f. but same improved oiling. Word on the street is that Mark likes these alot.

pm me if interested.
