2F from Man-a-fre worth it? (1 Viewer)

I was looking at the Hi-performance rebuilt 2F's for sale at Man-a-fre. The cost is $3500 with a core. I would be putting it in a FJ55. This seems like a lot for a rebuilt engine. What do you think are other options if this is not worth it?

If you are going for a mostly stock rig, then you could buy their engine, but I wouldn't waist that much money on a 2f. Don't get me wrong, a 2f is a great engine! I have owned both a 350 cruiser and a 2f cruiser and it is a toss up (depends on what you want to do with your rig). Consider a diesel (fuel economy and lower end torque). Just a little food for thought!

What diesel engine? I would like to try and use mostly LC parts. 2F/H55F/Rockbox/Orion was my original plan. But I am open to suggestions.

Man for 3,500 bucks I would go after a good chevy 350, I would go fuel injected with a five speed manual maybe a NV4500 or something. Anyway you hot rod a 2f you still have a 2f. Dont get me wrong I just put another 2f in my cruiser when faced with the delima of swapping or not, and decided that the 2f is too good to let go... for the money.

Check out the Vortec engines they are really nice. You could get really close to everything you needed with adapters and such if you pulled a used engine tranny combo.
