I think you should either have the con rods and pistons out the bottom off the crank for legs, or else have them upright in the cylinder and a small electric motor that turns the crank about 8 rpm so you can see the camshaft rotate and pistons move.

Or else line the cylinders with fabric and drop your bottles of liquor in there! Now that I think of it, you could have them raise or lower your booze as they turned.

OR,.....he could have the actual head reproduced in clear lexan, and have a working distributer that fires working spark plugs that ignite alcohol and watch it all in the dark with the blue flames!!! very low compression of course..

Now that's nuttier then squirrel sh!t, I like it.

Make 2 tables use the block for a coffee table and the crank and flywheel for an end table. Mine is SBC.

Six cup holders? How cool is that!!!

Progress report? Damn, I'm falling behind!

I've just about finished stripping the motor. All accessories and brackets are off. All that's left is the block, crank, rods and pistons. I've decided that the crank and pistons will stay in, so I picked up a 3FE flexplate that will be made into a hand crank. Should be pretty neat :D

I'll be able to make more progress when I get these 14 bolts out of the way.

Two and a half years later, still no updates. The better half nixed the idea of actually making this into a coffee table and I can't think of any other use for the block. I don't have a "man cave" other than my garage so there's nowhere to put this coffee table once completed.

Sadly an incomplete and unsatisifying end to the project :(

For some reason I have the overwhelming desire to leave this here:

I saw this thread just now and was hoping for inspiration to do the same with the block I have had laying in the driveway for the past year. What's the going rate at the scrap yard for a block?

They price by the pound, so it depends on the block. I bet they'll give you $5 for it, maybe less.
