My wife refused to buy a 200 or the new LX due to all the BS electrical and Apple crap.

While most see this as a NON Land Cruiser profile it is exactly what everyone has asked for : affordable, offroad capable and smaller (not by much per their specs) No sunroof was a huge plus on the 1958 model.

We are on the list to receive one as soon as available. 1958 model poverty pack , cloth manual seats, 8" display, 6 speaker audio and round headlights.

I will be designing a few items for recovery and suspension. Already have a 100 piece order for one product once finalized.

All in all........ if this is as dependable as my 2013 FJ Cruiser has been....... WELL WORTH THE MONEY.

IMO, This vehicle should be in its own forum. @woody I'll happily moderate.

Glad to see some appreciation for it. I think it’s a great concept and addition to the lineage. Could be a fun platform if the engineering is as high quality as its predecessors. I don’t understand all the griping about it. You’re right it’s exactly what a lot of people have been asking for. It’s what many thought the Grenadier would be before the price was revealed and it that vehicle showed itself to be an unproven stripped down G Wagen (only mildly less expensive). I don’t know that I’ll ever have a 250 but I’m glad it will exist and I’m excited to see the ingenuity it inspires in aftermarket manufacturers and end users.

Several have asked if there is a list to get on for products once released.

Right now main items

Hidden winch mount or low profile center winch plate.
Sliders
Rear control arms
Skids
Shock guards
Suspension lift pucks 1.25-1.50 inch

If interested in any. I'll be happy to notify once designed.

Can you expand upon "Apple crap"? It has CarPlay which is software that you do not have to use. Same functionality as Android Auto, both of which are on nearly every vehicle currently being sold. The BS electrical gadgetry is impossible to avoid once you cross the $50K range.

I think what he mean is 200 series is missing it. Not even 2019 model have it.

I love 1958 model. The only thing I want to add is eKDSS but alas toyota say can't do. Love the simple design. Don't want a flashy vehicle.

I'm wondering if most of the mods are universal to both 250 and 550? There are possibly a few things I'd want armored but won't know until I actually see it in person.

Additionally, I think a rear ladder would be useful.

Interested in what you come up with. Plz add me to the list. thx

Wonder if the Trail Hunter package will be available on this? In Toyota commentary about the Sequoia, Tundra, and Tacoma, it was mentioned as an option.

I hope to all that is holy that they keep the "TrailHunter" moniker off of it. That's a focus group name if there ever was one, and a lazy one to boot.

The carburettor on my Dads old FJ40 are always unreliable. Then comes fuel injection and it become much more reliable.
Same as first time coil spring was used in 70 series. People cry and said it would not last. Then same as 100 series when it move to IFS. Same cry and unproven.

A lot of people even with 60-80 series cannot fix it themselves anyway. The world is shrinking too with cell phone that can communicate directly to satellite. Seens how many prius in Africa and getting used off road too? They are everywhere. They are proven reliable.

The biggest issue of land cruiser is always fuel economy. No mather how reliable, when you stranded with no fuel, you are not going any where. This hybid is part of the solution. The new hybrid LC are geared for north America anyway. How many are going to be driven even to Alaska or South America?

Jerry cans are a far cheaper solution than a battery pack and all the crap that goes with it

No one thought HD coil springs couldn't handle a 70 series

There are changes to capabilities and reliability, sure. But this isn't it

TBH, I'm a little sad it's tucked under the Lexus/GXOR forum heading since the badge clearly says Land Cruiser.

1000%. In many ways, I'm psyched for an LC lite.
