I've got a crack in my original 85 oil cap for the 22re (the one that says toyota on it). The dealer has a replacement but its not the same as the original (it looks like a pepboys special). Anybody know of a place that might have a NOS oil cap to match mine or am I stuck with the classifieds?

Still available from Toyota. Part #12180-13010.

Thats not the one that came on my pickup. Mine has the same shape but is recessed in the middle and has no jap markings.

As far as I know, the T3Q cap was stock for the 20R/22R/RE.

Nonetheless, an oil cap's an oil cap. As much as I love OEM parts, I would gladly run anything that kept my engine from spewing oil all over my engine bay.
:meh:

One of the TRD caps fit. Much nicer than stock.

The TEQ cap pictured was on the early 22r-series until the block changed in late '84. Cap and valve cover changed after that.

I have a TEQ cap you can have for shipping. I thought I still had my "Toyota" cap, but can't find it. I have one more place to look.

Appreciate the responses guys. I'm dead set on finding an exact replacement so it looks like the pick a part is where I'm headed.

Lots of mid-late 1980's Toyota's had the cool TEQ style cap.

I got about 6 of them off of Corollas, Camrys, and some early pickups.

I think I paid $2 each.

Many Toyota caps from many of their engines will fit...just scratch off the markings for 5W-20 oil if you farm out oil changes.

Unless my rig was an absolute showpiece stock truck that never left the garage, then I would really care so much about the oil cap, but, in reality, whatever keeps the engine from blowing oil all over the place should be fine.

well in that case a sock werks just fine

dont ask me how I know

Will the older cap and valve cover fit on a later 22re?
I come across them in junkyards from time to time, have always thought they looked cool.

I know the cap does, but not sure on the valve cover.

The cover will probably fit, but may not work with EFI stuff.
