I'm glad the Land Cruiser is back! Can't wait to see it on 35s with bumpers, body armor, and swing out spare tire on the back and roof rack.
35s? Yeah, but no. I'm 62 and not getting any stronger. Changing one of my 33" K02s on my 200 is a pain in my back and knees. Those darn things are heavy. A 35" tire? NF way I want to change one of those, nor do I want the expense of the necessary regearing. YMMV.

I happen to thing a 70 fits right in in Manhattan.

What a beauty! You made my day. Here's one for you from the Med.

I love both the GX and the Land Cruiser, I just need pricing. If these boost up too high I'm just going to go with a Sequoia.
Sequoia is significantly larger. Too big for me, but YMMV.

I’m not in the market right now so I’ll wait to see what the new 4Runner looks like.

The only miss in my opinion, and it's HUGE!, is the rear hatch. Why have a rear window the lifts up if you're going to have a hatch? Bring back the CLAM SHELL!! of have the window go down into the rest of the hatch. Makes no sense this way.

Probably a cost consideration. Clamshell hatch adds sognificant cost especially when it needs to be motorized. Same reason Full fat RR has clamshell and the sport doesn’t.

The entire back would have to be flat to have a roll down window, o don’t think it would work with the slight angle of the rear window.

After hearing the Tacoma lead engineer explain that essentially they believe if we have a front locker and IFS, we'll "break stuff" so we get A-trac/MTS instead, that killed any fantasy of getting triple locked here. Strange how they still put it on the 300 series though. Maybe totally different engineering departments/teams with different philosophies.
Maybe the internals of the taco are more light duty and weaker. Obviously different stuff.

They probably tested internally and know the limits better than anyone.

I'd guess very few people modify LC300s to run big tires or take them into technically challenging terrain. Lots of tacoma owners do. So it may just be the use profile differences.

This, and the other quote below. I was trying to explain to someone the hybrid implementation in the LC, and big trucks in general. I am not expert at all, but it is clear that this LC hybrids are not your Prius line. I bet the biggest pie of improvement in the 27 MPG comes from the Turbo part of the engine, the smaller displacement, and the reductions in weight due to "more" plastic and "more" aluminium, and other materials, rather than the "hybrid" part of it.
Yes, it's very hard to do an unreliable mild-hybrid. It's a lot simpler and dumb system than a real hybrid like a Prius.

Think of it as a starter that would always be in gear (instead of having a solenoid to connect) and ca be reverse to either generate electricity (as an alternator), start the engine (as a regular starter), or assist the ICE engine with a little bit more torque. Actually you can even have 1 less active component in your engine bay as it can replace the alternator and the starter.
There are even companies that currently work on aftermarket mild-hybrid systems to adapt to engines that did not have it originally.

62, I always assumed you were 112. Lol

The way they drive land cruisers here

Tacoma owners in the US can't come close lol.

We drive them like crazy off road and send them at very high speeds
And many do it stock without mods but mods are also super common so what your saying can't be the case.

I know lots of people running large tires on 300s.

At the end of the day sometimes engineers make mistakes and he probably just what he said on the spot.

I’ll just drop this here since I haven’t seen anyone post it. New 4Runner in the background?
