Hi everyone,
I own a 2024 GX550 Overtrail and since around 2,000 miles I’ve had a persistent rattling/creaking noise from the right rear C-pillar.
  • Hot weather: noise gets extremely loud.
  • Cooler weather: still there but weaker.
  • 80–90°F: almost disappears, but always comes back.
Dealer visits so far:
  • First visit: I test-drove with the tech, we both heard it, they tried a fix but it didn’t solve it.
  • Later visits: noise didn’t appear during inspection, making it impossible to capture. When it’s quiet, the car feels perfect — but often the same night on my way home, the noise returns. This has become mentally exhausting, as I’m always listening for it.
  • Recently I booked a same-day appointment via the Lexus app right after hearing the noise, but the dealer refused, saying same-day isn’t allowed. If so, why does the app even show that option? And what if the noise disappears by the time of a scheduled appointment?
At this point I’m frustrated. The issue is real but intermittent, and service advisors sometimes make me feel like I’m being unreasonable.
Questions:
  1. Has anyone else had the same C-pillar noise on a GX550 or LC250?
  2. Any NYC owners with this issue?
  3. Can anyone recommend a good service center in NYC where I can bring the car in immediately when the noise happens, instead of waiting for an appointment?
Thanks for any advice

That would drive me insane. Wish I could help diagnose, wishing you the best.

Ask the service manager to please document your concerns so big Toyota can track it. Mention that you think you can smell exhaust fumes and that you're concerned your children might get carbon monoxide poisoning from a leak into the cabin. That will get their attention.

Might be body/door flex causing the rubber door seals to kinda squeak from the door moving relative to the body. One test, apply a Toyota recommended rubber treatment to the weatherstripping and rubber glass runs to make the rubber less "sticky". Also consider flex/movement of the interior door panel. IIRC Tundra's had some similar issues??

FWIW
