No 3rd row. So this means we can finally get an OEM mat that covers the entire cargo area!!

I’ll have to check it out at the Chicago Auto Show next month.

I wonder how much they’ll charge you for having the running boards removed for you... also answers any questions about the BBS wheels fitting a 200 as I imagine they are the exact same as the Tundra just different color. Also same Dunlop tires?

As expected, no significant change for 2020. I was hoping for Apple CarPlay, but it appears that won’t be coming for 2020 either.

Meh.....removed a bunch of stuff, including cool box, made some cosmetic changes, offered in only black or white, only black interior, didn’t add anything useful like CarPlay. And will likely cost more. A missed opportunity in 2020 by Toyota IMHO. They could have followed the lead of @Eric Sarjeant at the dealer in Indiana and put some cool extras on it like good tires, sliders, roof rack, etc and made the heritage vehicle proud.

Usually when I hear something like "Heritage Edition" I run away. It smacks of marketing in the place of improvements/innovation. Looks like that is the case. Squeeze the last bits out of the current model with what they think is clever marketing.

At the same time, this sort of thing usually precedes the release of a new model. So maybe there is hope for 2021. I just hope they don't screw it up (my opinion) like LR did with the Discovery and make it more about supposedly clever gimmicks that don't hold up over time or faddish, in your face luxury that is for people who buy a car to get attention from others rather than as a tool to get to amazing places, and back, in comfort. Time will tell.

Good point. It usually seems to signal that this is the last move to squeeze out one more bump in sales on the old tooling.

Was really hoping for apple carplay. While it isn’t perfect, it’s a great upgrade from what we have now.

Yeah. And sometimes it seems like they are trying to reduce left over parts inventory. Rear entertainment, third row, etc. I saw LR do this with the last year or two of the LR4. They put out some "edition" with a fancy name (Landmark or something) and basically pushed the left over inventory out the door before introducing their Discovery crossover.

Was hoping for more as well.

It is a paint-and-tape special edition to try to move some metal while they don’t have anything substantial.

Wow sign me up. Some small cosmetic changes, Still with terrible tires.

So they will release 1200 of these and on average they sell 3000 a year in the US.

So almost half will be Heritage edition?

Seems like a waste to me. I don't think this will cause a huge increase in demand.

Those of us wishing for a special edition with lift/tires/armor/rack don't seem to understand the extent to which toyota would be held liable if any of that contributed to an accident. And it would definitely contribute to an accident if sold to the broader public.

Toyota is FAR too conservative to allow this.

Personally? If I were far richer than I am I'd be buying one of these. It is the most special stock 200 I can get, and as I get older I appreciate nearly stock more and more. But if I had that kind of money I'd also have a mint 40th and a bunch of other cruisers as well.

Edit: and because I don't want my phone listening at all times I don't use Siri, which means Apple Carplay won't work. Learned that detail with a rental VW.

A couple images....probably can't get this $7,500 under MSRP.:rimshot:

2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition debuts before Chicago Auto Show

My preference for a simple paint and sticker would have been, for the front and back...

and on the back.

BTW, my 2016 doesn't have CarPlay but it does have Siri Hands Free. Which I use a fair bit. As for this special edition, as I said earlier I don't think it is to increase demand but to help push the remaining parts inventory out the door before coming out with something new. Think Land Rover LR4 Landmark edition. When that something new happens is not certain. But I would expect it in 2021 or 2022.
