I have been in search of a 2020-2021 LC HE for some time. 2 weeks ago I came across a dealer that was selling a stock 2021 LC HE with 38K miles. Carfax clean and CPO by Toyota.

I had the car PPI'd at a local mechanic despite this being at a Toyota dealer and everything checked out clean except for minor seepage from the front and rear struts. This is a 2 owner vehicle.

I noticed the car has since sold as I pulled out of the deal with these findings. Is this an issue anyone else has encountered with the stock struts? Does it imply the stock suspension was pushed hard? Any feed back would be appreciated as I continue my search.

Thank you!

It would depend on the volume. If it is so little that it just barely wet the top of the shock I’d have no problem with it, but oil escaping to the point that it’s dripping down would suggest something going on.

The shocks on these things are very robust. I bought mine with 100k on it and figured new factory dampers would be a good move to freshen things up.. but I couldn’t tell a difference at all.

Great username, by the way

Thanks.

Here are the photos they took at the shop. Pretty low res though.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be worried about that, personally.

When i got my 2010 i ran the service records and there were notes stating seepage at all 4 shocks starting around 50k

No indication there were ever replaced and mine was at 215k when i ripped it all apart

i was baffled, although some visible seepage, both rear shocks appeared in good shape, were firm to compressed, and rebounded slowly as they should.

The stock shocks are very robust as @bloc mentioned

I look at the seepage as a non issue, as long as it dont burn when u pee

But if seepage gets worse, try antibiotics :p

I would not worry about that either.

Sorry, but looks like you passed on a great buy - assuming price was not a ridiculous six figure. HE in the 30k miles range and CPO are becoming more and more rare to find. Good luck on the hunt.
