So got a new part today from Japan, I was a bit surprised when I opened up the box.

I was expecting the FTE valve cover, cover. Seen here,

That cover cover is NLA from Toyota and I was expecting the cover just without the “24valve, turbo, intercooler” on it. A Yanmar application is what I was told was coming.

Here is the actual valve cover, still readily available from Toyota.

Now here is an FT, also NLA from Toyota, it’s the older style, aluminum but has less bolts to hold it down.

Yes I know, you can swap the FTE and FT covers around, the lesser number of bolts on the FT still match the FTE head just not as many of them and vise versa.

Now here is the Yanmar for the FTE I received today.

Notice it is the same as the FT, it just has the correct number of holes for the FTE.

I personally think it is a beautiful part. 😍 I am a little particular though, I do like the older cover more vs the newer double cover. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Cheers

@SNLC I Agree that looks better than the efi cover.

what is the purpose of the hump in the cover? I assume it isn’t needed for clearance of something on the head since the hump is in a different location, but both covers have “a hump”.

also wanted to say your use of the OEM body mounts is just another example of the little details that make your builds next level 👍

Because it's a Dromedary Ungulate, a Bactrian would require 2 humps. Very smart of Toyota/Yanmar :)

Yanmar valve cover is hot, took Dave 6 months to source mine.

Are you keeping the 80 frame mount stock for the rear cab mount, or making custom for all of the mounts?

Outstanding, another work of art, Ian.

Here is the #2 body mount, firewall.

All three sets are now built and tacked on, cab weight is resting on them.

Still got to deal with this in front.

Also still got to weld out all the mounts for the cab and build ten for the bed! 🐫

Cheers

So from the last pic above of the #1 body mount, it’s outside gussets and tow hooks...

This is what we used and what we made/modified.

We are leaving out the lower portion for now, the tow hook part. We still have an ARB front bumper to fit to the front so best to wait and see how that plays out.

Moving on to bed mounts now. 😉

Cheers
