Did you get a matching size spare? If so, how does it fit where the original spare goes? I am seriously considering this size when I replace my BFG AT 285s I have now. I am concerned about the fit of the spare if I go with this size.

I did get a matching spare. I’m actually in the process of raising the spare tire mount as we speak but from my reading, it should fit fine. I’ll update when I get it mounted

Fits great. It took a little finesse to get it situated just right; I think it was catching on some stuff as I was cranking. I lifted the carrier 2.5” and dropped the crank 1.5” with some custom Delrin spacers.

I was worried about the tire rubbing on one of the sheet metal seams in the back but it clears. It looks like the spare is resting on the forward part of the carrier and the steel tube that runs just in front of the rear bumper. It sits nice and level.

The only issue I see is that I can’t get my hitch inserted deep enough without really forcing it but this could probably be fixed by shifting the tire forward a little while someone cranks it up into place.

Here you can see the hitch almost fits in before it hits the tire.

looks like you could just cut 1/4 off your hitch tube.

Not a bad idea, I just have several that I would have to modify. Might be my only choice. I shifted the tire back some but in doing so, the sidewall now rests on that sheet metal seam. I’ve ordered some U-channel to cover the edge but would still like to keep the tire off of that if I can.

Caught up on maintenance on the 80. Oil change with Mobil 1 and rotated the tires. Did the complete blue fan clutch mod- adjusted opening temp and refilled with higher viscosity fluid. Initial testing is promising.

I picked up this 86 Toyota Pickup about a week ago. The 80 is the first daily driver I’ve ever owned that wasn’t a Tacoma. I thought I could live without a truck... I now know I never want to

@1994pd basically color by number now...::grinpimp::grinpimp::grinpimp::grinpimp:

FYI, your LCA's fabrication is done. Just need to press in new ends and paint. Your welcome to use FOO's as you may not have time before you blow out of town.

I stripped down the 40's engine cleaned it up and put in new rings, no more fogging the mosquitoes everyone will need to pack bug spray. I think @rockstate45 took some pics to prove it happened.
