Just received this email from Toyota Corp on their 75w transfer case fluid. What’s everyone’s thought on this?

I’ve only seen the 75W spec on the Torsen diff equipped models...LX,LC,GX and 4R Limited

Ravenol 75W is widely available
The 75w is spec’d for the new Tacoma’s and tundras as well but no dealership stocks 75w or even heard of the weight. All said they get the cheapest (Valvoline 75w90) bulk oil and use it for all transfer cases.

Also the LC in Australia is spec’d to use 75w90 GL5 for their transfer case. Not sure if they use the same transfer case or not but thought it was interesting. Gotta love oil talk haha

A lot of doubt was instilled my many of the oil companies. At the time I changed mine the first time 4 years ago... Amsoil for instance wouldn't even recommend one of their oils for the transfer case. They simply said no substitute.

I always wonder if just ignorance, outright deception, or both when dealers/manufacturers claim they haven't heard of a common issue or even oil that there is a company product number on.

The Ravenol 75W wasn't widely talked about when I changed mine so just sucked it up and went with the golden fluid. I'd be comfortable using the Ravenol.

I can't seem to find that Valvoline straight 75W anywhere... wanted to see how it price compared to the Ravenol.

Maybe just coming on the market?

Quick question: how easy is it to swap from one side to the other?
I'm thinking if you're stuck having to park in one position and the awning is on the wrong side of your rig, like in dedicated parking spaces at comp grounds.

The awning is easily removable with the tool Ironman provided. The victory 4x4 awning mounts are also easily removable with the tool I carry with me. Maybe 15 minutes to swap sides

What’s everyone’s thoughts on cutting the front/rear bumper and side steps to gain clearance? Found this online and drooled.. haha

Also convinced my wife to take both rigs and do some snow wheeling. Her first time engaging 4wd.

Im a fan as I did the cuts to mine. It's a nice option if you forgo bumpers or as an interim until you do. I say go for it.

Big fan of cutting and plan to do it myself here soon (actually went and saw rig on lift today!)

here is a super helpful video for cutting the rocker panel covers. Btw you’ll need to do this with sliders anyways if you don’t want exposed holes in rocker panel.

also. Have no interest in buying the CBI sliders after seeing this.

additionally (for those that care) they don’t say “Lexus” on the sheet metal cover. A lot of guys were surprised and upset by this. Do like the fact they’re full length, but screw taking a grinder to a brand new set of sliders. I think I’ll go RSG. Many good options out there. The ronin metal ones are awesome looking as well but he only makes super limited quantities.

To my eye, the rear hitch and exhaust sit too low for this aggressive of a cut on the rear bumper. I noticed that Instagram account never posts pictures of the back bumper curious how he’s addressed the exhaust

My buddy got one of the first sets with this issue and they actually sent him a new set that corrected this, I believe they were simply shorter instead of a radius cut to the inside corner.
