We used to gather the wagons Tuesday night just past the spillway start, but it's been made off limits, so we don't stay there any longer. It always made for a fun but surprisingly cold camp.

Where's this rule documented? We camped about 40' from the bathroom at the spillway last year, but only from about midnight until 6am, and only with the tent. Oops? I looked around the USFS site and didn't find any such restriction.

The nearest camp site is the group camp, $40/25 people, reservable:

Eldorado - Red Fir Group Campground

The Northshore Camp is FCFS, $10. This link has a map:

Eldorado - Northshore Campground

The nearest free site is the Airport Springs camp, FCFS:

Eldorado - Airport Flat Campground

I don't know if documented, but we used to camp under that huge pine tree below the spillway. They now have boulders blocking the access to it. So it's "documented on the ground".

Is there a limit to the # of people on the family run? I will be bringing my 8 year old and it sounds perfect! My 80 is on 33's but have wheeled the rubicon many times (in j40's) so this will be a first in the 80. I am assuming the family run will be taking the bypasses? Also, will the family run be going all the way through on thursday to the springs? Thanks! Noah

Not sure where they want the cut off number to be. This run goes from Tahoma to the Springs, not from Loon. So there are no real bypasses to take.

ah, ok, did not realize this was coming in from lakeside.....

could still be a good fit for me though as we are planning on staying in the area, hmmmm

@1973Guppie make sure that 80 has every inch of armor possible. Did it last year in my 80 on 33's and will be again this year. It felt like I was on my sliders or coming down on my rear bumper going over every obstacle. Tons of fun though!

thx for advice, yeah I will be taking bypasses and am ok with a few dents, all armored up. Hope to get 35's on there before. My 285's are getting old...

Maybe I should do this. I'm (and/or the truck) aren't getting any younger.

:hhmm:

Do it Nial, you won't regret it.

It's a lot of people, but it's still a very good time in the Land Cruiser.

I always try to go where people aren't.

Im going on this run for the first time. I have a question though. Do I have to be a TCLA member or can I just sign up and pay the fee?

Yes you do. There is an option of on online only version for only $25 if you are not interested in the printed version of the magazine. You can do all of that from the registration, you don't have to go to TLCA first, we will handle it. Here is the link: Rubithon Registration | The Official Toyota Land Cruiser Association Annual Event

Hey Pablo, I will be on the wagon run as well with my 8 yo daughter, look forward to meeting you!

Noah

We would like to congratulate Joseph Mylie as the February winner for the extra grand prize ticket. His name will be put back in the running for the other months as well. So get those registrations in!

Just got my registration in and paid! The 80 is good to go.

Still have to install the fr/rr lockers on the Hundy, rear armor just got done by Luke, if all goes well, Hundy will register!
