Get on it people. If you register after June 14th, no shirt will be included in your registration package.

The raffle is shaping up nicely and in our continuing quest to be the best event on the East Coast, this year we have a new caterer for dinner who specializes in real BBQ. Yea, they’re bringing a competition smoker trailer. It will be outstanding.

Coal Mine Cruiser Classic - Gotham City Land Cruisers

What is the cabin situation this year?

Doing our own thing at Rausch appears to be the preference of many, given the circumstances at Twin Grove last year and this year.

Last year, the hassle about noise put a damper on our evenings. This year, it appears we've been blocked from getting a cabin where there is enough space for all club members, who aren't staying in the cabin, to pitch tents and have a common fire pit. As a result, the sentiment seems to be running that we not bother with Twin Grove and just camp together at Rausch like old times. I'm sure our good friends from Keystone Cruisers will find and join us around the campfire wherever we stay.

I plan on wheeling that weekend at Rausch and/or Anthracite regardless, and it doesn't matter to me where we camp so long as we can all stay together and enjoy our campfire discussion and a few games of Nails. If we get our "stuff" together, we might even organize a potluck dinner for one night.

At our meeting on Thursday it was mentioned the possibility of us wheeling and camping at Gore that weekend. Is anyone up for that instead of Rausch? Since Fall Crawl was at Rausch last year this might be a welcomed change of scenery and trails.

I would be up for Gore but it's expensive. 2x the price of Rouch and/or Anthracite.

The weekend is set aside regardless of destination for me. I think we will make a decision as a club at the next meeting. My personal opinion is that we should support events people are putting time and effort into that support wheeling and provide a good time. Fall crawl is somewhat fizzling as a highly organized event. It would not make a lot of sense to me to decline a well organized and established event we have history with, when it might be the only summer or Fall opportunity we have and we can do an event at Gore or elsewhere any time over the 5 month wheeling season. Cabin is a must if we drop anchor at Twin Grove, but when I tried to reserve one in March they were blocked off by Gotham. Hopefully Gotham City can release one for us to have since we are their largest event supporting group.

I plan to attend Coal Mine this year....has there ever been any talk of CLCC organizing a fall event ?

I'd hate to see the Virginia/MD/DC bunch not attend Coal Mine to wheel an "unorganized" (for lack of a better term)
weekend of wheeling at Gore. I've been at the coal mine event every year but the first. Yeah I know it's a home game for me but it is the only sanctioned TLCA event in the northeast. Yes I'd love to have a cabin the main event area and hope you guys are able to wrestle one from the Gotham City guys if they indeed have reserved all of them,. has anyone contacted any of the Gotham City guys directly? If not and you want me to do so just let me know. I was hoping to lead a combined group from the Capital City club and the Keystone club at the Appalachian park one day of coal mine.
Maybe someone can get Dan Friedlander back up to PA for this year's event! been a long time, Dan............

Contrary to what you may have heard, or are being told by TG, Gotham only reserved 2 cabins for this years event. Those 2 being the HQ cabins. In past years we have reserved as many as were available, but that got to be too much of a hassle when it came time to transfer reservations to another person.

During the dinner last year, announcements were made that if you wanted a cabin for this year you must be sure to talk to TG before you left on Sunday or call as soon as possible. As you've all seen we're not the only patrons of TG that week, and cabins are in high demand.

Chris

Chris thank you for clearing that up.

Will there be a central hang out and camping area this year?

Two years ago was great with everyone all together. Last year with individual cabins and campsites it felt a bit more spread out, not quite as fun.

Capital Landcruiser guys are coming and supporting Coal Mine Cruiser Classic as always. We appreciate Landcruiser brethren organizing a great event for our enjoyment, and as a club we all feel it's important to support, enjoy and thrive on the efforts of what Gotham guys have put forth year after year. We expect a good size turnout as always and we are just trying to find the best accommodation arrangement we can arrange. It's challenging with a group as big as we have. Hopefully we get it sorted out shortly. Schmukster is right. We all want to hang together on the trail and by the campfire. We are coming in force. We will scramble and find the best accommodations we can arrange. Thoughts are to wheel Anthrocite on Thursday and Rausch Fri/Sat.

I'm thinking of staying at Rouch. Like 3 years ago. If it's true all cabins are rented out to nonGCLC members and/or outside guest we may get in trouble as loud as we can get.
