2016-2017 LC owners, a few questions.... (1 Viewer)

Did some searches and asked around, but would like to get owners input...

1. Is there a way to remove the headrests of the third row seats? I have a set of drawers that work with the seats folded but the headrests won't allow them to slide to the second row seats.

2. Regarding oem wheels and tires, where are you setting your tire pressures for daily commutes, door says 33, discount tire and tire rack recommend 35-36 for better tire life and gas mileage.

3. What does your oil pressure gauge read? mine is alway at 1/4.

4.is there a way to keep the home screen on at start up or other, or does the system always defaults to the Nav screen and you have to change it?

None are real issues, just trying to get an understanding of the new LC.

The door says 33psi for a reason - years of Toyota engineering expertise.

My oil pressure gauge has been at 1/4 + a little since new. When I brought it to the attention of my dealer shortly after purchase, they replaced the oil pressure sender, thinking that would give a more centered readout, but it had no effect. A couple of weeks later they received word from Toyota regional that my gauge reading was normal - no "fix" required.

By the way... If you ever change to a different tire... @gaijin is THE tire pressure guru around here bar none. PSI varies WILDLY based on specific tire's...and our PSI ninja (gaijin) has a knack for swooping in and settling PSI Qs.

1) Yes the third row seats headrest should be removable as they are usually stored in the zipper area in the back of the seat, I think it should have the normal squeeze to unlock clip at the base of the headrest. (Might be different on US spec but doubt it)

4) In the settings menu there should be an option to select/de-select "automatically revert to Nav screen"

I just looked at mine:
I think the only one that goes in the zipper is the middle of the three headrests in the third row...at least that's how mine were when I went out to the garage and looked. I saw no easy way to detach the right and left, because they don't have what every other headrest has---they have no finger press/squeeze thingy at the base. Only the middle, removable one that goes in the zippered compartment of the third row. Weird.

Suggested solution: Rear drawer system...no third row.

When I purchased mine the headrests were off and laying on the cargo floor. To get the headrests to go in the dealer had to insert a thin pick into an existing small hole in the plastic mount on one side, then press in to get the head rests to go down. The pressing in was more or less in the same place and worked like one would expect if you were pressing the "normal" tab to raise/lower/remove a headrest. Maybe a straightened out paper clip would work.

On Q4, yes, the default screen is customizable. I don't know the page number in your owners manual, but it's in there. I decided to leave mine on the map, but there are other choices, including a split screen with half map and half other info.

Ok, I will look closer and see if there is anything tonpress, possibly with a small punch etc....i can confirm no tab or button.

Have looked and read but nothing about reverting. The home screen can be split, i like that option, but it reverts to nav each time you turn the car off and back on. I am looking however

There is a small slot in the left base of the headrest. I believe you can insert a small screwdriver to press in and remove them. I know you can raise and lower them that way.

Excellent, ok found them. They are the size of a small flat screw driver , worked, headrests are off. Nice.

Although the manual states that you can leave the home screen on at startup, you cannot. It always reverts back to the nav screen. Other errors include no power to folding mirrors after locking the car and a distance decimal mistake on the center console during navigation. I don't know if these were fixed for the 2017 model year. Minor gripes, but frustrating nonetheless on an 85k dollar vehicle.

no change, these issues remain on the 2017, but I imagine a software upgrade would correct most.

Is yours a '16 or '17? On page 25 of my '17 nav manual there are instructions for setting the home screen, which is the default on startup. It can be several choices, including the 2 - 3 split screens with multiple info.I don't have to reset the home screen each time I start up.

I see from your post just now you have a '17. Are you sure you can't set a default home screen that isn't the nav map?

Yes, I have read that section. oddly enough, on page 22 , the manual states that after the Caution screen is displayed touch continue for the home screen, or push the home screen button. Except when this vehicle starts it defaults to the nav screen every time, so, I wonder if it is a dealer program issue.
What I am attempting to do is to have the home screen at start up.

Home screen doesn't work as default screen as mentioned earlier. Toyota screw up. I am disappointed with that as well.
