Getting ready to do this. Acquired a 2014 LX this week to bridge the "gap". I will try to document the engine swap in to my crippled 2014 as best as I can as time allows.

Any info / suggestions regarding a donor vehicle source (LC, LX, Tundra) are appreciated.

I am in the hunt....

Barring any last minute ECU / control wiring miracles....I am looking for a 5.7L donor engine from a Tundra/Sequoia/LX570/LC.
Any concurrence?

Obviously, search for all four sources but grab the first decent candidate.

Stuff happens. We as a community need to demystify this process.

The Donor Engine
Perhaps....

I will talk to my guy and get back to this thread

Mostly good reviews. Still researching.....

Will probably initiate this. Ebay reviews are stellar but google reviews are 3 out of 5.....

JDM Engines (Orlando A and A)
Getting ready to punch the time clock....

Anyone have any intel on these guys?

Soon to buy a JDM 5.7 engine off of eBay. The bad engine is now out of the vehicle. There are obvious signs of previous mechanic error on the part of the used car lot that I bought it from. Timing chain area has misc non Toyo bolts, etc.....
Cylinders are showing excessive carbon build-up. etc., etc.....

More soon....

That sucker is clean!
The ebay photo is a generic photo I think. Speculation is that these JDM engines are shipped in to our west coast and warehoused there. The Orlando Fla shop said I could view the engine at their facility 10-15 days after placing the order... Regardless, this is a $5,000.00 leap of faith bit it seems like the buyer protection from ebay and a charge card give the transaction acceptable risk......

Like in the movie “heat” with Melissa McCarthy and sandra bullock you can always “negative feedback his a$$”

Seriously though, I think JDM engine lifespan is limited to <100k on the chain for their emissions or insert gov metric here. Used to be anyways. But that opens the rest of the world to all sorts of good auto options from Japan. If the seller is responsive and everything checks out, consider it is my vote.

I have heard similar stuff regarding JDM's. Regardless, this additional 15% (approx) investment on my part is merely "I'll see you and call" at the proverbial poker table......the adventure continues (or is that "the road goes on forever and the party never ends"?).

Stay tuned....

Definitely chronicle this whole thing. If nothing else, it’s a good adventure.

Actually to the best of my knowledge: any 5.7 from an LC/LX/Tundra/Sequoia are all game on.....

I will know in the fullness of time....
