Tirechains.com is a good source and they ship quickly.

and I have a couple of friends (including her's) with birthdays this month and next. Just need to see if I can pull it off.
Thanks. Ash pointed them out too, And I've been trying to pull the trigger since my first snow run with the group. Just have to figure out if I can pull that off now. Just had to help the GF with some of her finacial problemsand I have a couple of friends (including her's) with birthdays this month and next. Just need to see if I can pull it off.
Danise and the kids want to attend this. I think I can convince her that we "need" tire chains as an excuse to buy a set. What is the collective wisdom of the V-BAR chains? Tirechains.com indicates they are recommended (along with the 5.5mm Square Link and Heavy Duty) for off-road use. They look like they should provide even more traction than the other two types. I was thinking I'd probably get 4 of the rubber chain tensioners as well to have some extras. Even if there isn't any snow by then at least I'll have them for the once a year, maybe snow run that I do.
Anybody know of a local source for tensioners?
Marc,
I would recommend against the front chains. It's pretty tight in the front and the chains hit the A-ARM. Maybe a different style will work. THe weight of the truck, and with the rear chains, I am sure you will be fine if you just need those.
If/when I place an order, let me know if anyone else wants something on the same order. It might save on shipping costs if you want something small like tensioners. If I order one set of chains the S&H is $40. Two sets and it goes up to $55.
I don't have a running toy and i am not a member, can i still join you?
They only charged me $19 S&H for V-bar with the spring tensioners. When I lived in Oregon and we would go play on Mt Hood (where 3' of fresh snow is a light snow day), I would just put the chains on the front of my FJ40 and it went like the clap through a dormatory.
I don't know about the 100 series/4Runner/All Track/Rav4 IFS issues, but on my 40 chains work really well on the front and I never needed them on the rear. I'd assume that they would work equally well on the 80 series and on any HD105s which happen to be coming along on the run. I know Ash uses chains on the front of his 80 without issue.... but then his is not exactly close to stock.

I might be one of those "blokes" that bug out early. Something else has come up that evening.
