Looks like Saturday December 8th was the day selected, 830 am convoy from north portal.

I'm in!

Location: Jemez mountains...I'm sure the district will have a "recommended" tree cutting location so the route can be determined.
Bring what you wheel, food, tree killing tools, and what ever you need to survive...

See you all there!

PS don't muck up this thread!

I'll be there with my suburban. It's got 20" wheels and 4-lo. That cool? :-D

The wife just told me "no." The FJ it is.

Awww man, I was hoping to see the Burb in action, LOL!!

Ali's will be there.

Should we do a cookout of some sort? Hot food always hits the spots when it's cold out.

Going to put this on want to do list. Need to order a set of chains though. I should have enough time for that.

I will be driving the 4Runner so I will have an extra set of 35" chains to loan.

Speaking of tire chains, please bring a set for your vehicle. If there's snow and ice, it just makes the whole outing that much more enjoyable! Tirechains.com has been our go to place for tire chains and accessories. If you're ordering a set, don't forget to order an extra set of rubber bungees (tensioners).

From your local hardware store, pick up few Quicklinks for repairing tire chains out on the trail. Breaking tire chains out on the trails is common so having these quick links makes it easy to repair them.

My favorite style of tire chains are the ones with camlocks. You can twist the camlocks and really cinch up the chains. Using a bolt cutter, cut off any extra amount of tire chains so they don't end up flopping around and damaging your inner fenders or worse, brake lines. We can do a tire chain installation session at the Nov meeting for the first timers if needed. It's also a good idea to practice installing the chains in your driveway just to get the hang of the concept before hitting the trails.

I'll be there with bells on, er sorry, with chains on!

With chains, recovery gear, food, clothes, spare parts, etc.

Don't forget the toothbrush and some soap. There will be families. :flipoff2:

I plan to be there and hope Bonnie will join me. The Christmas tree run last year was her first exposure to HDC and off-roading. :D

I don't have chains. Maybe this is the year?

(Jonboy... I'll take you up on the loan of your 35" chains if I don't get a set before that weekend.)

Touché!!

When getting quicklinks make sure you get the stainless steel variety. They cost a little more, but they're worth it - much stronger. Also, if you cut your ends off, remember that different brands of tires have different dimensions for the same size, so save the ends and buy a couple extra quicklinks for the possibility you may buy new tires of the same size someday (or lend them out to someone). Otherwise you can use tie wire to tie the ends down. Some of us carry tie wire because of the inherent good samaritan attitude of Toyota 4wd owners combined with the fact we sometimes run into j**ps out there that are broken down... (Some of us even have a few SAE sized wrenches in our tool kits!)

We're 50/50 on the Christmas tree run right now.
