Looking about 4500 to replace both head gaskets, new timing chains, guides, tensioners

Am I nuts having this done. Just had suspension re done. Truck has no rust and looks great. Everything else works fine.

Test drove a 2022 tacoma 3.5 and can't believe how rough and noisy it is not to mention no torque. I just don't see myself getting one of those instead of repairing my lx. Tacoma had 25k miles on it and my price at dealer discount would be 36,500!! Even a tundra seems crude to me. I guess I got too pampered. Engine still runs like new and burns no oil between changes

When they pull the heads, I'll be really interested to see where the gasket let go.

No, not nuts. You’re asking an extremely biased crowd so we aren’t going to judge.

In fact, you may get offers for it as is… it crossed my mind lol.

What kind of offer out of curiosity

Another option is I found a complete engine out of a 2011 lx570 for 6k. It only has 45k miles on it. Tough decision here

Take the engine. Tear yours down to answer the "why's".

Anyone on here pull an engine out of one of these trucks? I did my 93 mustang but I'm sure that was much simpler

Only 30days. They posted the vin and I was able to see service records that looked fine. Truck it came out of was hit on the left side.
Used engine warranty covers what? Doubtful it covers installation if you find it’s bad post install. But only 45k miles sure sounds enticing.

Yeah I know. I think it makes more sense. Gonna cost me 2k more in the long run but I am not thrilled about someone doing such extensive work on my current engine.
