Ok. Here's a pic of mine. Yes the piece that holds the flipper broke off I have it positioned in that picture where it's supposed to go but there's nothing holding it there yet

Yup, same break on mine. I used an elevator bolt because its head will be in the gap between the armrest and console once you reinstall it. I then ran it up (drill through the center of where the broken piece went) and used a nut to secure it so the flipper is held in place.

so where the screw is on my picture, there is now a nut, the bolt runs through from the underside.

ok, I will check at lowes for elevator bolt. thanks again

ok, I was able to fix it, thanks for all the help and with saving me lots of $

Nice!

Found this thread searching for options as my passenger armrest just broke. Unfortunately, mine is the black plastic flapper thing itself cracked in half rather than the part that attached it as it seems here. Any ideas for a replacement flapper piece? Also, I can't figure out how or where to reattach the spring for testing. If anyone has any ideas, I would be interested.

Can you take a picture of how it’s broken?

Man that’s a tough one - might be enough to glue two pieces together and drill some holes to run metal wire between both pieces to hold them together even more?

You might look at plastic welding as an alternative, I have seen some finished that is very strong I might be the trick to learn our our increasingly plastic parts.

My post snapped and I used a plastic epoxy, I havent sourced the spring yet (haven't looked any links?). If the epoxy wouldn't have worked welding was #2 alternative.

Just as I thought if anything else could break on my truck, the driver side armrest became loose. Turns out this little guy here was broken somehow and it was an easy fix with super glue:

It wasn’t clear to me how to assemble the rest of the part so i’m posting the following pictures to help the next fella with the broken armrest:

Okay now here is where I’m stuck, I can’t figure out in which direction (1, 2, 3, or 4?) to assemble this little guy, any thoughts?

It will only fit 1 way when you reassemble (I thought it was facing the front but am not so sure). I wouldn’t trust the glue though, I tried and it snapped almost immediately.

Yeah thanks. You were right it only fits one way, which is #1. Assembled it back before dropping the truck at my trusted garage for some AHC diagnoses. Let's see how long does the glue holds up!

I'm hoping one of you can shed some light on specifically how to get the sliding part off the armrest off.
nwfl4runner mentions using a pick to access tab, but I am having a difficult time figuring out where the tab is. I have the dual sliding arm rest.

Reviving a thread.
Picked up a nice 2014 LX570.
Drivers side arm slider thing (what a goofy thing) is broken.
I am gluing the broken bracket back together like you all have done. I am missing the silver roller spring thing.
is that going to be a problem?

have any of you figured out a way to lock these goofy sliders in place (permanently) and then be done with it?

thanks

I was not too concerned with restoring the passenger side sliding part of the armrest to its original functionality after my 9-year-old broke it with the full weight of her body. I found that sliding the armrest forward nullified the use of the cupholders anyway. I drilled a small pilot hole underneath (to avoid cracking) and put a wood decking screw by hand in from the bottom (no power driver drills!). Looks great from the top.

Has anyone tried jb weld on that little plastic post piece that seems to break off?

Seems like I can only put glue/jb on the bottom of the post since the flipper thing sits on top and around the plastics post that has snapped out. I’m not sure how sturdy this would be, initially was hoping to put jb around the base of the post to make it stronger but that likely would impact the flipper from fitting over it.

finaly question, if I go with a elevator bolt solution, do I also still need to glue to plastic post down?

Any advice welcomed!

I had same issue, first time around i opened it up and found a screw and screwed it from top of that piece into the bottom plastic and put everything together. lasted for almost a year, broke again recently. this time i took some JB weld stainless steel and made the surface on both sides of where i drilled previously. then took a screw and put it through top side of broken piece through the JB weld. this time when i was taking it apart i broke the plastic slider pieces as well on which the whole armrest slides, i used some glue and put the plastic piece together. it is working as of now but i think now if it breaks then i will have to replace the whole thing.
And i did not use the plastic post thing at all. i think you can use strong glue but JB weld will not work with post since i will be sitting high and the pivoting piece will not grab the latch on sliding bar to move.

About to head to Lowe’s to find the elusive elevator bolt.

I’ve reread this thread a lot and I think I finally get it..

I need to find a longer elevator bolt that has the same head and thick diameter as the existing screw... but the thick smooth part needs to be as long as the height of the flipper... so the smooth thick part basically replaces the height of the plastic post that broke off... then I suppose the threaded portion is just long enough to clear the thickness of the plastic floor and enough thread for a super thin nylon nut... but not too long to prevent sliding...

If’ll post up pics later if by some chance I’m correct in assuming this and by some chance my local Lowe’s has this very precise part on hand. Oh ya and if it all works!
