Looks like Prospectors Campground has pull-throughs and longer sites.

Pull throughs are for my grandfather - I can back in my trailer in like a mothaf*#$in' champ. But relatively smooth is a plus... I would camp on BLM property that's grassy, but if I really need 4WD to get there I probably need a Kimberly Karavan like @Romer.

Is anyone driving in from the Denver area on Friday who may be willing to transport my wife? I'll be in Breck all week but she has a work thing and can't come in until Friday. She's planning on renting a car but I figured I'd ask here just in case. The last thing we want to do is hold anyone up, so the idea would be that she would Uber/Lyft to your preferred departure destination and would be on your timeline. Shoot me a PM if you're willing and this works with your plans.

Worst case use one of the mountain ride shuttles. INFINITELY cheaper than an Uber or lyft.

Hah! Same here.

If you guys decide on that campground I might join in. We can get spots together. Just bring earplugs to drown out my nighttime drunken ramblings.

I would bring it if I wasn't staying just one night. That allows more time in town after dinner

So is there any consensus where folks tugging camping trailers are staying? I'll have my 17' Casita and I'd love to circle wagons...

@linuxgod Im considering a couple of these dispersed camping spots to base camp out of while we're in the Breck area. We will be meeting at Slee in the afternoon and heading over to Breck to set up camp on Wednesday. Will be happy to try to hold off an area for those who want to join us. I'll also have a trailer with RTT.

Count me in for that group. What kind of trailer are you running?

As of last night I'm official. Prospector's Campground near Dillon Lake. Site 16.

We'll be there either very late Thursday night or more likely Friday afternoon. It's a 16 hour drive from Chicago, so with the trailer and gas stops every 2.5-3 hours I expect it to take about 18 hours. If we can our sh!t packed early I might try to leave after work on Wednesday and get 5 or 6 hours under my belt, boondock at a Walmart, and then finish the drive on Thursday. I did book the site from Thursday->Sunday, but most likely I'll end up packing the trailer on Wednesday night so we won't leave until 6am Thursday and with kids and stops I'll have to break up the outbound trip.

It's in my sig :)

Edit: You probably weren't asking me, were you?

Appear to be 30+ reservable campsites still available at Prospectors as of 6/8/17. I may do that just so I know where I'm heading. It's about 12 miles from Breck.

Google says 10.6 miles, or about 25 minutes. I would've camped closer but I didn't see anything closer to the town, plus I wasn't really sure where the meet up was going to be. Hopefully it'll be on the north side of Breck ;-)

You can snag your site at reservation.gov. If you change you mind and cancel with at least 24 hours to spare, you get everything back except a $10 booking fee.

Well I put in for leave with "The Man" I'll probably reserve a spot next week. I'm thinking of arriving on the 1st getting a hotel in Golden.

Stick it to the man!

How much does your trailer weigh? Along with my little Casita, I have an Arctic Fox with a GVWR of 7500 lbs. It feels just a bit heavy to pull comfortably with the Cruiser.

5020# loaded down, according to the CAT scale. Surprisingly light.

I might have missed it but what days did you reserve? I'm about to snag a spot near you.

I'm leaning towards getting a camp water heater for showers. I wanted one anyways, I guess I'll expedite the order for this. Yeah, I'm a sissy :) but a nice shower while camping is amazing. Especially after a hike (or a night of debauchery).

I'm thinking about heading up around Dillon and Key tomorrow to scout out the campsites. Let me know if you anyone wants me to spy on spots.

Let us know how Prospectors looks. Spot #20 in particular :)

We can all take over that 14 - 20 loop depending on the size of the group

LOL great minds and what not, that was actually the spot I was planning to book, but I saw it listed as the Host's spot. I dunno if plebs like us can take it :meh:

Just finished 4 weeks with mine up in Wyoming. About ready to do this without the 3500lb load. :-)
