2008 GX470 Receiver Hitch - why is this so hard to find?

Hey guys - long-time listener, first time caller.

I recently purchased a 2008 120-series with only 85K, and has a lot of potential. It's a great rig.

One of the first items of business however is getting a receiver hitch put on it. It already has the main towing framework, so I just need the 2" receiver hitch. Where it should be, there are just the 6-bolt pattern mounting area (see photo).

I've checked Lexus and Toyota - no luck. I've looked online, and the only thing I discovered was one that someone had to fabricate themselves. I don't get it, I would think a manufacturer somewhere would make this piece. I searched here first, but I also came up empty handed.

I'd be eternally grateful for any idea on where I can get this piece. Thank you!

At the dealer they want about the same price for the one that bolts on at that location or a full receiver bar and hitch. $350 I think was the price I was quoted.
I ended up finding a used one on e-bay by REESE called a step bumper LINK.

Don't want to hi-jack this but....
On my LX450 I actually took the factory hitch assembly and flipped it upside down to gain an additional 4"+ of clearance and removed the whole back bumper. Is there a way to have a hitch raised up or is there plenty of clearance (other then buying a custom bumper) since I just got the truck serviced, belts changed again, fluids, and the stage 1.5 lift from SSO w/air bag delete kit.

Yeah that eBay one sits higher than the Reese one I got but mine was only $60 so I figured I would try it. It will only be temporary I hope to have SS Offroad rear bumper sooner than later. I will get photos as soon as I mount it.

They are out there, the one that bolts to that spot will only get you about 3500lbs of towing. You can get a frame one from Etrailer which should be able to tow about 5500-6500 lbs.

And I think Southern Style Off-road will have one on their site later this week that will just bolt up to where your picture shows.

The pintle hitch that just bolts to the bumper, is rated for 5000 lbs.

Interesting idea! Wonder if the two sides on the GX are symmetrical?

@Couloir Wood Grain Warrior makes an easy receiver hitch that uses those 4 bolts ... its not on the site yet but @coops2k has requested one for himself so i can go ahead and do two if you'd like one ... right now they are $75

Curious if you’ve moved on from making this and/or have an alternative suggestion. I don’t plan to use a hitch for much else than what was pictured above and for the very rare towing small trailer with supplies. Ie. nothing near the 6500 weight limit.
