Add another one to the failure. 2009 with 188k miles. Called local dealer and they quoted me $450+ for part or $1k+ for them to take care of it. That doesn’t include me getting it to them, I am 45 minutes away! I got lucky as well and found it before it was catastrophic. Reading this thread convinced me to do it myself. I normally use Toyota parts only, but I have not seen where they have corrected this design flaw. I went on Amazon and found a TYC model 13080 radiator for $70 with prime 2 day shipping! It is supposed to be delivered today. I decided to try the TYC version because I replaced the headlights on a Sequoia that I previously owned and they were identical to the factory version. Even if this model has the same defect at least it’s less costly.

This 100% my personal opinion but I'd trust a Toyota radiator with that known failure mode that is quite easy to monitor/predict FAR more than an aftermarket solution, especially one that is so cheap.
Plus, it looks like Toyota is finally correcting the problem on new ones. No clue how you'd make sure you got the updated part though.

I Just ordered a Nissens radiator. Never put them in anything japanese but used to run them in European cars with success. I'll see what it looks like when its gets here, it was more expensive than the denso but a 100k mile radiator just isn't going to fly.

I just finished install and everything went fine. As far as price being so cheap, I still can’t believe it. I went back today and searched same part and it is listed for $192. Radiator looks identical to factory installed version. Will update when something happens.

When replacing the radiator, is there actually a need to drain it while still mounted? I'd like to avoid pulling the skid. Thoughts?
That depends on how much of a mess you're comfortable with. Once the lower radiator hose comes off the motor or the radiator side, it's going to drain whether you're read or not
I suppose if you had a reasonable way to catch the fluid that will be pouring out, you could remove the radiator sans skid plate removal. Spend a few minutes with a hose washing down the rest of the residue I suppose. It's going to be easier just to remove the skids imo

I think there is direct correlation with southern trucks and radiator failure. My lx 570 had the crack starting when I purchased it. It is 2013 model and had 86000 miles. It was a late model 2013 and put into service in November 2013.

Why? It’s easy to spot the crack and most seem to be drivable for many thousands of miles even with the crack before it actually loses integrity and starts to leak.
My 2013 spent 2 years in Houston and then 2 years in Illinois. The radiator started to crack around 76k.
Anecdotally if you read the forums here failures are all over the map. I don't think it's due to ambient temp, I actually think it's due to heating and cooling cycles, but you'd need a much larger sample size than this thread to confirm

Still waiting to read that someone who reinforced the seam with epoxy or some type of radiator repair experienced a failure...
