With some big mile trips in the works for the next year and a 1/2 I needed some tire.....well I wanted some tires that dont go womp womp womp womp, what did you say? womp womp womp.
The search was on, I liked the pattern of the new Toyo RT Pro, but soon realized it was going the other direction and was more similar to what I already had (Kenda MT2). The wear and performance of my current tires have been good, the noise is reminiscent of a set of Interco SSR's I had on my 3rd gen 4R ages ago.
I felt like Goldilocks,
WIldpeak RT too $$
Cooper Rugged Trek too thin a sidewall (per the internet)
Toyo RT Trail Almost perfect but would like some more siping, please
and the search went on, at the end of the day I settled on the Mickey Thomson Baja AT,,,, but then ran into anotherhurdle. The price out the door price wasn't getting under the $2k mark, and that was a hard pill to swallow even for 37's, considering we had been shopping for 40's in the same ballpark.
After some spirited debates with my brother, he said why not go back to 35's for a while, see if they arent less expensive. So I checked, and to my surprise, they were less, by just over $600.
Done and ordered. That would have been too easy, they mistakenly shipped a 33 in the mix just to add spice to my life. So now I wait a little longer. Fedex return label, please.
