I am looking at buying a 2006 LC and just wondering if there were any known or systemic issues with that year and model. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

To my knowledge there isn't anything out of the ordinary that should need to be replaced with that model.

I don't know your future plans and what not for your LC (you might already know this) but that year features a rising a lowering suspension where as 05 and previous years doesn't and for some this is a turn off if your going to lift because you'll come to choice of either needing to use an override chip from Slee or swap out the AHC all together with springs and such.

Thanks all for the help, saw the buying/selling thread shortly after posting here. Does the metallic weight do anything or just sit under the passenger seat? Unfortunately most of my miles come on the highway so the AHC is not an issue for me.

Thanks again, appreciate the help.

While not a big issue, the AHC is worth thinking about if you're towing or plan on upgrading. When I bought my LX I thought the AHC was cool, now I realize like everything else the more complicated a system is the more there is to go wrong > the more expensive to repair. If I had to do it again and hadn't found a ridiculously good deal on a ridiculously good truck I would go for a non-AHC.

The weight thing is actually an anvil, most LC drivers are blacksmiths

Interesting, I thought the AHC actually helped for towing, no? Have an 01 LX and like you wouldn't have gotten a Lexus if not for a phenomenal deal. Haven't had any issues with the AHC on my LX, what issues have you had? My biggest complaint with the LX has been the Levinson sound system.

AHC is nice for towing until you exceed its limits. You know when you have because it drops to the low setting. I have done it hitting a dip towing a 5000# boat, IIRC its 1200lbs.

Yes... There is a very odd looking metallic "weight" thingy on the passenger-side frame rail directly under the front passenger seat. Aside from that, you are good to go!

Actually, on my '06, it was under the driver's seat .... and the same guys who stole all the storm sewer grates in my neighborhood stole the SOB ... :crybaby:

Drivers side on my 07 as well.

My 2006 has been great. But yes, AHC will get to be a problem on heavy loads. Mine dropped into low while driving down a bumpy road. Had to drop the trailer to get it back into N, then hook it back up. Other than the towing though, it has worked great.

Air bags correct the issue with weight- just say'n

Just offering another perspective on AHC.

If your primary use is within the typical operation of the SUV, then AHC can offer many benefits. I'm a pretty aggressive driver and I like the dynamic qualities of the system that allows this really heavy SUV to corner flatter, with less dive, and with well controlled body motions over any road irregularity. And I can control the stiffness of the dampening for canyon roads or soften it up for effortless cruising. I especially like that it compensates for loads by maintaining ride height and increasing dampening.

You just have to be aware of the systems limitations and augment it as necessary if needed.
