2000 LC junk it or replace timing belt and heater hoses and tees. Today I reached 320,320 miles on my LC.

This is a great vehicle, long in the tooth. So I have been wondering how much longer it might go. Any comments would be appreciated. Been a regular maintenance vehicle at the local Toyota Dealer. Almost too pricey to continue. enough complaining, it has also gotten me and others out of many jams along with 35K tow line I carry.

How does the frame look? I’ll buy it if you lean toward junking it! Lol

Any idea what you’d replace it with?

Why would you want to junk it? My goal is to run it till it won't go no mo

All depends on condition, if it's mint keep going, if it's rough and rusty might want an escape plan. More details needed. I wouldn't dump it just based on mileage. These 4.7L engines have been known to go over 1,000,000 miles. You are 1/3 of the way there keep going!

I still don't hear of these engines failing. The only enemy of Toyotas are car wrecks and rust. I've got 307k or so right now and my goal is 500k on this engine. So i can drive it for another 10+years. If it fails Ill replace the engine. My wife and i love this vehicle. It will be a classic if it isn't already

We'd probably die before our trucks will. Just keep up with maintenance and don't let it run dry on coolant or oil and the engine will keep ticking for a couple decades.

Incompetent mechanics can kill them pretty good too.

Wow you are great thanks for the responses. It only has minimal surface rust in a couple of places. History of car is good:
  1. tranny replaced at 87,000 due to failure replaced with reman, regular maintenance since, PO replaced.
  2. radiator replace approx a year ago with a Modine from KC, MO works great.
  3. Steering rack replaced 3 years ago due to multiple seal leaks.
  4. regular timing belt and water pump replacements at approx 134k and 234k due now for the third one.
  5. Good story here, I stopped to help a person that slid off the road in an ice storm. Got out of the car closed the door and the LC slid into the same ditch! Drove it out but did some $3k worth of damage, good news I got Metal tech running boards, they are very healthy. My body guy told me "no good deed goes unpunished!!!
  6. Only other issues are regular stuff, brakes, plugs, fluids etc. But expensive at the dealer as noted by you guys and me.
Thanks for the input, I will work on the timing belt mtce next.
Jim
