It is VERY difficult to get the trim out of the clips without bending it. A really good installer may be able to accomplish this, but I guarantee they’ll have new trim on-hand in case the existing parts get tweaked.

Personally if they absolutely refuse, I’d do an extremely close inspection when they give it back to you and if it isn’t as smooth and straight as stock at that point I’d insist on replacement.

The other thing they often do is use urethane to anchor the stainless clip at the top because they already have a bunch of it on hand. Toyota calls for a flexible epoxy, and I’m sure they have their reasons.

Very helpful! They haven't refused anything at this point, but when I asked if we needed to order any additional parts they said no and explained that everything was reusable minus the clips. You're right about the urethane; they have a $30 line item for "Adhesive (Fast-Cure Urethane/Dam/Primer). I will reach back out to them and see if they can update the claim to include the seals and mouldings. If not, I'm happy to provide at my expense.

The urethane is to attach the panel itself, regardless of what they do with the stainless clips that hold the top end of the a pillar trim. They don’t always come off the roof, depending on how good the installer is and I’d guess how many times the trim has been removed. When they do, the FSM calls for the flexible epoxy I mentioned to reattach.

Hello everyone, does anyone have windshield replacement shop recommendations in the SF Bay Area? I talked to one shop with zero LC200 experience and once they looked up the process, they said they were unable to do this job.

I know my dealer outsources the install and they don’t see a lot of LC200s. I heard some Lexus dealers might have in house techs for this job.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

See who is certified to do Lexus and Porsche body repairs, and either ask who they use (in my city they’re often among the best in town) or have them do the glass. Obviously still try to find some reviews.. but I’ve found this process useful in the past.

Thanks @bloc , for the suggestion. I reached out to several Lexus dealers, one of them said they were unable to get Toyota parts and the other quote came back ~$1K more for the exact same job. Details below:

Lexus Dealer - $2835
- $1200 windshield + moulding
- $350 install
- $1100 calibration

Toyota Dealer - $1899
- $1184 windshield + moulding
- $715 install + calibration

One Lexus dealer pointed me to their third party installer, he was confident he could do the install until he saw the IH8MUD posts. Still on the hunt for someone with experience doing the LC200/LX570...

Anybody have any recommendations for a 570 windshield replacement in North Carolina (in Charlotte area but will drive), or in Phoenix, AZ area?
Car does time in both locations. I have a 2000 470 and have had the windshield replaced twice, including once at Mudrak in Sonoma, both times were a disaster unfortunately,

I can't make any recommendations but will say the 200-series version isn't as tricky as a 100. We do have rivets, but the design was improved so they don't have to be replaced with the windshield, and that seems to help avoid some of the problems.

That said, we do have electrical issues if things leak. So whenever you get it done, I'd wait til a good storm and pull the front door sill trim to look for water, just in case.

Also looking for recommendations in the Seattle area, willing to drive for an experienced installer!!!

If you're still looking I had mine replaced at Lexus of Serramonte with no complaints 2 years after install. They helped me source OEM glass after about a month of searching, replaced all the clips and did the work in house. Their techs seem fairly comfortable working on 200s

Anyone have a recommendation for Reno/Carson City? Lots of 200's around Tahoe - gotta be someone out there that can do quality work.

Is that in South Lake or ???

EDIT - quick google search shows a flooring company in suite 8 at that address in South Lake

We just had ours replaced at Auto Glass Express in Chattanooga, TN. This was after a few recommendations from the local cruiser club as well as checking where the higher end dealerships get their glass work done. $920 with aftermarket glass but OEM Toyota replacement side moldings. I asked for the side moldings to be replaced because they weren't with the last windshield replacement and were always popping loose. Will report back if there are any issues, but they did my Tacoma a year ago and it's been good, so that plus their reputation I expect to have no issues.
