This is my dream setup! Love the get-up-and-go that a trailer affords - especially with a family.

It has definitely made our life easier with kids. We just completed a 4k mile trip to PNW with a 6 year old, good times...

The cooler is an RTIC 65. I had a ARB 63QT fridge before, and while refrigeration is awesome, I wanted to simplify and not deal with dual batteries, re-charging on the go, solar, etc. So I sold the fridge and got the RTIC. I also bought a variety of Coleman Ice Packs which I freeze in my home chest-freezer before outings.

So far I've only used the cooler on three outings, the longest of which was four days/three nights. Each time the cooler gets opened 15-30 times per day (ie. a lot!), and I've yet to see any of the ice packs melted at the end of the trip. I figure that with continued heavy use, I can get five-six nights out of the cooler without any issue. By that point I'll be out of food anyways.

That said, air temperatures during these camping trips have not exceeded ~27C, so I can't say how well this setup would have worked in the 42C heat I saw in Death Valley last year.

Realistically, I will be back to using a fridge sooner or later. Unfortunately, the trailer's small doors severely limit the fridge options (I can really only fit the same fridge I had before). A fridge in the LX means the dog has to go on the rear seats, and I'm thinking about having kids in a few years, which means I'll need those rear seats. Perhaps take one of the second-row seats out, put a fridge there, and keep the dog in the back, but it'll still be very tight. Basically, space is at a premium.

Another option is to modify the trailer to make new doors. Perhaps enlarge the side door through which the cooler currently slides, or re-do the entire rear to make it into a single, large opening. Frankly, the FreeSpit folks seriously screwed up the design and usability of the trailer with these tiny doors.

I will say though that I will never run dual batteries again, and will either use a Goal Zero Yeti 1000, or build a similar system.

But I digress. Back to photos of 200s!

Love the trailer! I added an off-road teardrop trailer to my rig this year and it’s been a total game changer. Love being able to leave camp set up to go explore and then head back later in the day. Also being able to just latch up and head out is awesome.

Last summer I went to Japan and spent almost a week in Nagoya with my friend who lives there. I took Koyari-san (Chief engineer of the 200 and now all body on frame Toyota vehicles) to dinner and had a chance to visit one of the off-road testing facilities Toyota uses for R&D. We paid way too much to drive the off-road course but it was cool to be able to wheel an RHD 200 on a course they use for research. I won't share all the other LC (and about 1k other car pics) I took while I was there but here a few from the facility.

Just found this pic on the Google. Love the proportions and wheel/tire package. Anybody know anything about this truck? I recognize the Vogue Industries froth bumper and the Rhino Rack roof package.
