What was scary to me about this was as I was walking along the edge in front of that large rock in my pic, dirt was rolling down... I never thought that a sudden deluge of dirt could possibly start coming down... later I looked closer at the base dirt on the outside edge of the rock and found that it was just dirt covered SNOW... melting. We left.

I was thinking the same thing, and realizing how much more careful I need to be with such things. Truly amazing how those SMALL signs of movement foreshadowed the big slide. Sort of like DEATH in slow motion... Pretty sobering. I'm saving a link to that slide...because if you're like me, you're curious, and might very well have stood there taking pictures like the guy who ended up RUNNING! Yikes... Amazing video.

so on lunch break in the middle of the Mojave desert we decided to try out the headlight cleaners on the dust/mud we had built up. They were ok at best (in a pinch I could see how they could get you some headlight back if they were covered). On a side note they make a pretty cool mess of the front end!

Ranchers had made this small dam way back in the day to catch any rain water that does happen to fall for their cattle...

Seems like they are most useful for snow build-up while driving (anti-freeze wiper fluid!!) or newly-splashed mud. But dried on crud? No worky for me... :) That stuff is nasty.

Did some trails on part of the KAT (Kentucky adventure trail) yesterday. Lucky to have this place so close by.
